servicing my GLI '03 (need help) pls.

hi guys!

my car is turning 100k soon and i want to service it my self, im the first owner of the car and since i bought this car back in 2003 i always take it to the dealer for service. i made a bit of mods in this car (spring, air intake, exhaust system). i got a stock engine.

i want some suggestions guys about the following:
1. what will be the best oil?
2. " " " " oil filter?
3. Do i need to change the fuel filter?
4. do i need to change the transmission oil?

im so dumb in regards about my own car!!!:(

Just read your service manual's 100 000KM service and see what needs to be done....

AS for;

1. Honda FEO oil if you are not too fussed
2. OEM/Hamp oil filter
3 and 4. Read the service schedule

Also.. The timing belt needs to be changed at 100000kms..

as above use OEM fluids and parts for best peace of mind and longevity.

BTW fuel filter + transmission oil is changed every 40,000ks on most hondas

thought if you give your car a hard time, change the auto fluid at 30k or 20 even.
as long as you use clean fuel, 40k is good, though i change mine every 20k, just in case

ahh if it's ur 1st time servicing your own car, I would suggest you service it at 110,000km; that's a very basic service (oil and filter only). The 100,000km is a major which does include the timing belt changed as ppl hav sed above.

about the timing belt, do i need to take it to a mechanic to change it? as far as i know that if u change the timing belt you need to time it as well?!

if u cant chnge the belt urself best to leave it to a qualified mechanic. but to answer ur question in most cases it's a no.

do the timing belt at your local mechanic if you are not 100%, bonus: whilst the car is hoisted also get the mechanic to look at the the rear main seal (engine) for oil seepage and check your front shocks (if still original) for oil leaks.

all this should b done in any service anyway, if its not gettin done every service then u got a dodgy cheap workshop and mechs.
