G'day guys

could somone give me some hint to this problem, i purchased this 4th gen prelude about 4 weeks ago, clutch felt fine it was, it was engaging just after about 1/4 way through, this morning the clutch is engaging only if i push the pedal right to the floor, it has about 3/4 of freely and the gears are a bit hard to go in. is there some sort of adjustment that i need to do or does the clutch needs replacing? i don't drive it like i stole it but every now and then i do give it a little bit.

any reply would be appreciated, just wanting to know a little more about the mechanical side.

thanks

Bleed your clutch line to change your clutch fluid. Could also be a leak in your master cylinder, but I'd say change the clutch fluid first since you just bought the car. I hope you plan to have the engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid and engine coolant changed too.

thanks Aaronng

only did the clutch line. too lazy to do the rest, maybe later :-) found out there was air in the line and ur right it could be a leak in either the master or the slave cylinder.

thanks again have a good new year

same thing isnt it?

hope u guys can help with my clutch problem:(
my clutch is perfectly fine most of the time, but when it gets hot,
or im in heavy bumper to bumper traffic, the clutch starts to make a clicking sound when i engage it,
sort of like it hitting or tapping something in the engine
clutch still works fine, but the sound is really annoying
i've tried changing clutch fluid already

Clutch master cylinder is the one that is connected to the clutch pedal and is connected to the firewall. Cluch slave cylinder is at the transmission side. Think of the master as the transmitter, and the slave as the receiver.

Clutch release bearing is probably on its way.

is that the thrust bearing?

Yes. The sound should appear when you press the clutch in.

thanks for that
is it a problem if i dont change it?
cause the clutch kit that i got didnt have a thrust bearing,
so the mechanic used the old bearing, he said it was ok

there will be a problem in the long run. The cutch kit doesn't have the thrust bearing? better off replace the bearing with the new one too. it's not that expensive to get it.

Whenever you replace your clutch, you're meant to use a new bearing. Honda's OEM bearing might not fit some clutch kits, so you have to find one of compatible size.

but the clutch kit i got didnt give me a thrust bearing, and i didnt realise till the mechanic already put it in, then he told me that he used the old thrust bearing
