I will have 18" wheels on my euro which originally had 16"s on it.

firstly, I am guessing im going to need to lower it.
Can anyone suggest, which is the best way to do this, what brands, how much roughly.
I would prefer something that gives good handling as well!

secondly, what do i do about my lights at a new height? how do i adjust it? is ne one nice enough to do it for me that has done it before?? i will pay, just dnt f*k it up :D

i know this has been spoken about a million times, just wanted a clear and simple suggestion as i am going to have the wheels on my car within a week.

thanks,
carmella x

coilover is the way to go.
but if u dont want to spend to much, then just get lowered springs....
3" at front and 3.5" at rears.
fronts will just sit on the tyres. rears will be up the gaurds abit. but on 18's, it could be to low for that height

what is your budget? what do u want out of it?
u could go coilovers, shocks and spings or even airbag it

1500 would be alright i guess, but dont mind spending a bit more if its worth it in the long run.

pedders springs are about $500 (incl) fitting will drop the car about 27mm (just over an inch). I currently have these on

this is probably the start,

you could move to coilovers etc, expect about 2k for a decent set which would allow you to lower..

search is your friend too..

Save for coilovers as they are better in the long run but if its just for looks then springs do the job.

save the cost of installation by going coilovers from the start

with me... i'm running lowering springs on stock shocks with 18' Lenso rims and i can tell you the shocks dont last longer than a 1.5 years max and the ride gets a little harsh since it's operate outside its original specifications

spring and adjustable shock combo is cost effective eg. eibach + koni yellows. but for that price, you can add a bit more and get the choice of heigh adjustment and/or comfort settings

tein coilovers are good buy... is it true that of the three (basic - ss - flex) that flex has the softest setting/ride?

I have just recently install Buddy Club N+ coilovers price is around $1850 the ride is still very comfortable and has perch adjustment for easier lowering and rasing without effecting the spring rate.

With the lights adjustment I just cable tied the sensor lever to the shock and seems to be ok so far.

Hope this helps

carmella stinks!

18s? too small y0! ahahaha

nah i suggest you get coilovers too... Theres a set of Racing Logic Coilovers going for around $1350 from my mates performance shop. Let me know if your interested we can go there.. The good thing about the Racing Logic ones are that they have dual adjust, meaning you can adjust the height (not preferable) and also adjust the height from the body of the coilover (suitable). Doing that, it won't sacrifice the ride height of the spring and won't feel as harsh when going over bumps etc.

I've got a Euro dropped on 18's

I orginally got it lowered at Ozzytyres on Kmac Springs, 2.5 at the front and 2 at the rear.

..........Ive never regretted anything more, im in the process of buying Tein SS coilovers for it now and i recomend you do the same, maybe not Tein SS but go for coilovers.

I may be wrong, but isnt that the same set up as the Tein Flex? If so, isnt that illegal?

I think it should be illegal to lower a car on springs... as the travelling distance of the standard shock is decreased which could cause your standard shock to cease and lead to all kinds of things..

Something about not being allowed to play with the upper mount hence making the SS legal because you can only play with the lower mounts or something..im sure i've heard it being said on these boards before.

SS adjusts using the lower spring perch, while Flex uses the coilover body length. I'd prefer to adjust the actual length of the coilover body rather than the lower spring perch.

someone on another thread said u can get SS for $1300.. which is a ridiculous price that i have not been able to match atm.

but at that money u may aswell get coilovers unless u only intend to lower the car by under 1.5 inches.... in which case lowered springs will not destroy your shocks.

You can find it easily online from the USA for around $1150 AUD (Tein basic only $900) - eg ww.tsxparts.com . As a guide for shipping - I recently shipped 20kg from the USA by sea with USPS (took about 8 weeks) and it cost $95AUD. So $1300 is achievable. Coilovers weigh about 20kg.

Note customs might want you to pay GST - I am not sure as never had to pay duty.

Can someone clarify in relation to the Tein SS -- is it true that there is an Australian specific version? I think I remember reading some vendor saying that they sell kits that have been redeveloped for Australian roads (not sure what the differences are).

edit... found it..

I've got Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs.Lowers the car approx.35mm.can't recommend it highly enough.Rides about 20% firmer than stock with normal driving then firms up progressively the harder you push it(cornering etc).cost $2100 inc rear camber kit,a must in my opinion.I think this setup suits the style of car that the Euro is,a semi luxury/sport sedan.I havent had much to do with coilovers but have read on other forums that over time they can, in some cases get noisy/sqeaky.This is the main reason i decided to not go the coilover option.BTW get a rear sway bar(18mm)this is really good value. You'll notice it as soon as you drive the car round the block. If you're int.in my setup and would like to drive it PM me and we can organise something.:p
