Hi guys

I heard that the dc2r key is microchipped, so therefore can only be purchased and coded by honda? Does anyone know this is 100% true or has purchased one before? Reason why I'm asking is that I've seen blank honda keys and they claim they will be suitable for integra's, but if they need a microchip, then this can't be compatible.

I have a friend with a 2000 prelude and I heard they use microchips as well. He is using a copied key with no problems.

I need a spare key and don't want to get ripped by honda for no reason when I can get a copy for $10. I think honda charge $150 for originals

dc2r keys are chipped
you dont have to go to honda to purchase a spare, you can go to certain key cutting places that will copy your chip code and put it in a replacement key for about $60

It's 96 + integras that had immobiliser chips installed.

more expensive only because of the microchipping.

Much cheaper if its just a straight cut.
