now iv come to think, the cxi has 1.6l, 88kW, 144Nm, 12.5 to 100,

will installing extractors, sports exhaust cannon style do anymore, or only for looks> and performance wise it will be a complete waste of money? i have tried doing searches on google for civic cxi specific exhaust mods, and cant find anything. so i think for ueber noobs like me asking u pros wud prolly be the best.

like is power gain like less than 5%?

u wont even be able to tell..i know i didnt..so i did an eng transplant..and thats where the big bucks are lol..

ull get more than 5% id say with those mods..full zorst and proper CAI..but honestly not worth it..if u want noise just put a canon on

ok kool, many thanks!!!
i might just get a canon for noise and looks, saves spending a crazy 1k for extractors which wont do anything on that car!
know any super ultra ueber cheap places that stock and install stainless steel cannons? like for 400 bucks max

you could aways turbo it for more power. I was in your situation once, i wanted more power, but now ive come to realise that its better to buy a new car then to have a engine transplant or turbo. So thats why my ek1 has turned into a rice box =). btw a cannon makes your car sound and look tough! lol.

Go for turbo kit mate~
One way.......

i got full zorst & CAI on my VTI b4,they do make more than 5% gain....
but still slower than many OTHER CARS......

go for cannon muffler if u want noise.....
ebay got them cheap, sinstallation will cost you around $70-100 depends on the shop u go.

end up less than $200

get a cluster with rev reading first, at least you know when to shift.

cluster won't be plug and play right? cos cxi doesn't have any rpm tacho.

australia you can only go 6o-70 km/h and max 110km/h. actually its a bit sad for high powered cars if you don't go track or drag.

for me tho, doesn't matter what gain you'll get, as long as you do it properly, it's all about the 'doing' and the experience and of course the fun of doing it.
don't ever want to be the fastest of the fastest, cos there is always someone faster than you. as long as its not snail-slow lol..

Cluster from a GLi (and probably any other EK series) is plug and play in the CXi. You do have the wires and sensors for the tacho.

Check this from D-Series.

Power gains are minimal but more responsive motor.

its really straight forward plug and play.

the photo here shows the rear side of the cluster.
where the arrows are, these are where the plugs going. its really fool-proof

Search for a service manual. It will give you detailed instructions on how to remove the gauge cluster. If you can't figure it out from the service manual search for the DIY I did for an aftermarket tacho. I show how to remove the plastic trim and pretty much the gauge cluster with photos and instructions. The photo that blk_shadow posted gives an excellent view of the back of the cluster.

it's pretty easy to disassemble it, tricky at times but, if you never do it.

undo the 2 screws at the top

pull the plastic facia off by pressing and pulling at the same time the top bit (the top part has to come out first, then the bottom will follow)

after that, you'll see the whole cluster sits there. unscrew 4 screws at the top and bottom. and gently pull the cluster out.

that's it. very easy...

I will also say,
lower your steering column first before you do anything. just to make it easier

This is what i have been telling the YCD guys in melbourne + others

"If you can't beat em in a straight, beat em in the corners".

So, focus on handling instead. I bought some premium shocks + springs and just received my sway bar. Even an integra driver with close to stock suspension complimented on how my car handled.

btw, i drive a 4cyl 01 auto accord with full leather /sub/ fat and heavy trim.

I just installed my cluster. It's EASY as theres like 6 screws and three plugs. Only took me like 10mins even less. Great addition to your cxi. Just remember to record your orginal odometer to keep as a record.
