i'm new to this whole mechanical game. and i'm just wondering wat model my 96 civic coupe would be and wat engine it is. all i know it has a not so ballsy 1.6L engine. i've been told it is a single cam.
just wanna confirm.

it could be 1.6 single cam non vtec or vtec, just look at the block next to ur exhaust manifold for the engine number adn that will tell u what u have

Its a d16y8 SOHC vtec EJ8. Most civic coupes made before 99 have this engine. It could also be a GLI d16y4 but highly unlikely cos these are extremely rare.

check the nuber on the block, if D16Y8 (which is most likely) it's 1.6 SOHC vtec, also if your VIN is *** EJ8****** the EJ8 usually indicates it has the above mentioned engine

I thought the Coupes had VTEC (the 96kw & 118kw SOHC/DOHC)

Coupes came in either Gli Vti or VTIR
Gli were drum brakes and auto matic only
Vti was manual and Disc brakes
VTIR was DOHC VTEC and disc brakes and no Automatci option
