View Full Version : Anyone know how to fit an ED front swaybar onto an EF?
Ok,
On the ED Crx's sway bars connect to the LCA via a striaght bolt.
On EF JDM Crx's (EF8 SiR) they connect to the LCA via two ball joints connected that face in different directions.
Does anyone know how to fit a whiteline ED front swaybar onto an EF.
Basically the general shape of the ED sway is the same as the EF.
But the ends face in different directions.

What i am thinking, if u look at my crappy drawing.. is get a connected ball joint that is inline rather then different directions. See 1 is what i am thinking.. and 2 is what we have..
SO yeah.. any info!?

you could change the lca to aussie spec, i used to have ef9 front lca with ef9 swaybar before i upgraded to new swaybar.
does everything fit though?
like the front tie rod etc etc?
forks?
i was thinking about that..

forks fit, either both bolts for the rod will fit or only one will fit. atm I only have one bolt to hold it on the lca

Whiteline will make you up a proper set of EF9 sway bars. Because the EF8/9 and EE8/9 were redesigned from the firewall forward compared to all over EF/EE/EDs, you're going to have a dodgy option trying to fit ED gear.
Setanta:
have u had any experience with whiteline custom?
expensive?
can be done in melbourne?
etc etc

why not use the EF balljoints on the ED sway bar

They did a setup for me Dxs. I had to drive in as it was custom made. Approx 600 F&R fitted as I recollect (I gave away the dockets to the guy I sold them to for his EF9).
Stretch the EF9s legs and come for a drive out of Mexico :)

have a look at the diagram on the right..

ED endlink goes vertically through the LCA
EF endlink goes horizontally through the LCA
so the setups are quite different
I have posted this problem on all the major CRX related forums.
Here are solutions so far.. each has a con about it:
1) Get a whiteline custom- Need to goto sydney and will cost 300 according to setanta - But maybe a group buy?
2) Install ED LCA- Inferior bushings to EF, tie rod only has 1 mounting hole opposed to 2 on the EF.. may cost a little
3) Get some JDM sway- Havent seen any on my numerous times on yahoo japan, and if so would cost a pretty peny compaired to whiteline
4) Get an adapter plate as shown in my crappy diagram above -Looking into this atm, the maker of the plate is for a tanabe sway and also may affect sway perform/a bit ghetto
EDIT: This is acutally for Dylanamus's EF8. Maybe i will look into a group buy

hey mate
can you re explain that statement?
Ok, it looks as though dylanamus is trying to organise a groupbuy on custom whitline EF8/9 front swaybars.
We need someone with an EF in syd to get them made though.
here is the thread on crxau:

or PM me or Dylanamus if interested
unfortunately we can not have a thread about groupbuys on ozhonda for some reason.. so yeah.. this is the option he/we are pursuing
