hey guys, just want to make a pointr, my mate is a qualified mechanic and honda, and my uncle has been in the trade for 20 years, my gear box is making a funny noise, so i checked with them and we discovered it must be the thrust bearing, as once the clutch was engaged the noiise went away, so today i have changed the thrust bearing, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and we put it all back together, we also changed the gear box oil, and to our disapointment, the noise is still there, we no believe that it must be the main bearings in the box, even though the theorey dosnt match up.
can anyone help...???

sounds like input shaft bearing ~
It will make a noise similar to that you describe
Best to take the box apart , and replace ISB , driveshaft seals etc , check the diff bearing etc.

do you think its worth getting a new or reco box, or just replace wateva is stuffed, or just the input shaft bearing??

IMO replace whatever is stuffed , PLUS most other bearings ( diff bearing etc). Doing this is a basic "rebuild" anyway. As long as your synchros are fine :)
Saves having to pull it apart in the future.

thanx for the advise, i mite pull it down and go all out on a rebuild, are there any companies that make complete gear sets and bearings that may be stronger than stock??? or should i go the stock rebuild

IMO go stock.
Its been proven time and time again to put up with alot of HP . The problems happen when the driver mistreats the box :)
