Just was thinking today when i saw a rather nice prelude today.

I have heard those h23 ( i think they are ) engines go for like 1.5k - 2k. Howcome you never hear of them going into civics. Im sure they would be quite a good upgrade

At Maximum power 118kW @ 5800rpm Maximum torque 209Nm @ 4500rpm

Only reason i can really think of are

* engine might be heavyer then b series.
* alot easyer to get b series engine in.
* power band isnt as good as b series

maybe becase if people were going to do H series engine conversion they might as well do the h22a as it has vtec?? wuldnt hava clue im just guessing

But that engine i presume would be another 2k - 2.5k

At 118kW, you're better off with a b16a since it is lighter.

Maximum power 118kW @ 7600rpm
Maximum torque 150Nm @ 7000rpm

what about the 59 more nm or torque i guess that wouldnt make up the diffrence?

But then i guess the h series woulnt so responsive to I/H/E mods.

( btw im not looking into a engine swap just curious)

I would have to say that it isnt really worth the trouble just for a h23... (others might dissagree with me)
however it would be worth it for a h22a.. more result for the effort that you would be going through just to get the H series in..
but if your not keen on the effort, then i suggest going b series..
thats just my opinion.

Nah it most likely won't in terms of raw speed. Gearing of the B16 will give equivilent wheel torque so you'll be just as fast. However below vtec, the B16 is a pile of crap, so it will not be as pleasant to putt around in.

It's because not many people think it's worth paying a few thousand just for 59Nm.... and when you are doing 1/4 mile times, it doesn't translate to better times as the engine speed is usually above 5000rpm. The only advantage is in 1st gear up to 4500rpm, after which the b16a should match it (to be sure, we have to calculate the area under the dyno graph for the RPM range used).

For a daily driver where you won't be revving it out, the h23a is better than the b16a. But when you are talking about shifting at redline to get max power, the b16a doesn't give up a lot to the h23a.

Yeah, JDM only in the Accord Wagon SiR.

If you were to do an engine conversion, would you have to sacrafice a/c or p/s like with the h22a? Im sure you'll correct me if im wrong ;)

It takes a fair bit of extra work to make them fit. I have seen very few conversions that keep the 'extras' :p.
