Im upgrading soon and wondering should i go with (hondata) which is the best ecu i can get for my type R or upgrade with (e-manage) system? I have no problems with the hondata itself but tuning may be a problem (only ppl in melb syd can do it.
Just wanted to know Hondata Vs E-manage which wud be the better outcome. Please let me know asap as i need to make a decision soon. thx.

I would choose hondata, however, please note that Hondata is also not a "full standalone" ECU like Motec or Microtech. It is actually soldered onto the original Honda ECU.
Most important is the tuner, not which ECU you choose to use. I had friends who use HKS FCON-SZ piggyback, which is considered a very high end piggyback on a '04 Honda Civic, but claims the honda ECU has overwritten the piggyback and the increased power was lost gradually. This is something which you might want to take into consideration if you are thinking of choosing emanage.

I would say out of the two the Hondata would be better. It also depends on what people can tune in your area. If it were me I would try for an AEM EMS but that's what I use. Hondata costs a lot and takes a little more to set it up. AEM you plug in, tune, and go, no soldering or other BS. Talk to local tuners and see what they are experienced with and then go from there. No point in getting something that you can't get tuned right.

Great advice CUL8R ! depending on where you are, who you going to tune it.. will also let you choose which ECU you "can" get (if that makes any sense to you all), no point getting good ECU if you can't get a good tuner!

A GOOD experienced tuner will tune most ECU's. Lets face it !
Secondly, on the Crome thing.... if you guys ventured over to pgmfi.org and looked at the forums, you'd see there is a whole forum dedicated to CROME BUGS. Even Dave (founder of pgmfi) has now given up on it to an extent...
Get a hondata (just dont get it from James, lol) or even better is Autronic, but the ultimate ofcourse is ..... ProECU, lol

dont go there with full comps vs piggys because the HKS FconV is a piggy back and its more powerful than most standalones out there :)
although the 2.5k pricetag is quite high, theres a reason for it champ :)

Hondata S200 vs Power FC vs Motec M800

That comparison has some holes in it. M800's list price is over $4000 to start with. I don't know what hand controller they are talking about for the M800, they've never had them.
And all the warnings they mention down the bottom can be configured to an external warning light. They also have a cam angle map as part of the variable timing option but that's more bucks again.

;) Giday, my first post as I'm waiting for dealer to deliver my (wife's) new 07 vti tricked-out with mats and roof-racks. My (nearly) last car was a Land Rover Freelander with no known ECU changes possible. I'm particularly interested in the different mappings of ecus and my new car. I'm also interested in finding out what is meant by the skills of a tuner when bolting on an ecu. I understand the Motecs can be programmed according to the user's preferences. But what variables can be changed with the two ecu's mentioned here? Does it vary more than the spark advance?
many thanks:beer:

Thanks for the wikipedia reference tinkerbell. So 91 RON burns in the stoichiometric ratio 14.7:1 air:fuel. Great, but what about THIS car? I guess my question was in relation to ProECU's mention of the value of a good tuner. What does the tuner do when discrete mappings are produced by the ecu supplier or programmer. The tuner aside, what does the ecu do to the intelligent Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control, and on who's say so?
