fuel pump rusted issues?

ok, i noticed my eg civic not starting and i wanted to know why, i traced it back to the intake fuel pump, as it was not doing anything, so i pulled it out of the fuel tank, and guess what, its rusted really badly, and if you look inside the tank that two is also rusted, there isnt a single golden spot, except for the outside of the fuel pump, which sits on top of the tank. anyhow, i hit the pump on the ground, and it started working again, but my question is this, could it be possible that i would have water or another stubstance in the fuel tank, as ive never seen anything like this rust before.?

Yes it is possible you have water in the tank. Drop it and look for signs of rust.

you must of got some nasty fuel form somewhere or someone doesnt like you very much
