Brake/Disc Help EM1 [Archive]

Hey guys was just driving home and all of a sudden i just started hearing my brake disc on the front left wheel grinding against my inspection plate....

any ideas what might have happened or suggestions on troubleshooting it further?
im hoping a rock or something is just rolling around inside but i very much doubt it :(

whats an inspection plate? maybe your pads are worn?

you know the thin metal plate behind the disc? whatever thats called, i used to think it was the inspection plate.

cars jacked up now and the wheel is off and when i turn the disc its making a grinding noise... i'll upload a video of it, if that helps?

edit: checked the pads and they are sweet as, the noise is the disc touching something else

lol it happens mick, i have had lots or rocks between my rotor and the tin shield behind it.

maybe get some slotted rotors while your down there? ;) :p

yeah i had that problem too, went around a corner and suddenly grinding noise

didnt know wtf it was until i remove the wheel and looked between that plate and rotor, there was a rock size of a pepper just stuck there...

scared me for a minute.

yeah, i freaked out... thought my disc was warped or something!
but glad it wasnt something serious. im so paranoid about breaking my car lol
