Guys,

Anyone know what the value of a genuine EK9 yellow civic R personal import would be worth in spotless original condition with personal import compliance. 125K kms? 1999 model.

DERO EDIT: 125000kms not $

$125K.... for that price buy an NSX!

But seriously I know before they changed laws it was fair easy but fair costly. There was a JDM NSX type S (i belive more than likly something else) for $64000, for sale at leasure vehicles, bayswater melbourne. Could have been a rebirth but who knows.

The car itself wont be worth shit (know from NZ, 96 JDM Teg Type R, $13000 australian.) so probs i doubt it would be more than the $30K mark. But I have NO idea :P ring around compliancers/engernears i dunno which and see what they say.

in that case, can we import cars from NZ? since NZ gets nice cars in low price, and its more close then Japan to australia, shipping fees should be cheap? So it should be way cheaper then importing cars from anywhere else?

If you import from NZ, don't you have to own it for a year or more over there before it actually becomes worth doing??? Damn Holden - it's because of them our cars cost so much $$$!!!!

A mate of mine bought a ITR for like $14,000 NZ currency! And their dollar buys like AU70cents.

You guys hit on my dilemma. I am off to NZ for 2 yrs. According to import laws I can bring in a car every 12mnths per family member of driving age. So I was thinking it has to be a car I like and would drive and it has to be something I could sell for at least as much as I pay for it plus shipping plus taxes when I get it back here and decide I want something else.

So tell me would a 1999 EK9 with 125K be worth about $30K here?

i still dont think you can register or complience the car in Australia regardless.

I think if he owns the car for 12months plus he get private import the car.
125 000kms i would pay about the same as an ITR with that many kms..less than 25k

Civic type R.

I know you can import and compliance this way, it is how I got my twin turbo subaru sti liberty/legacy with full private import compliance can be registered anywhere as a legitimate import. Hmm less than $25K may as well just get a jap spec low km ITR as the CTRs are almost double the price of ITRs in NZ.

I think he meant legitimately so that its rego could be swapped interstate - I may be wrong, but I had the impression that most CTRs were rebuilds and as such not quite legal outside of Vic.

I heard a few of them were lagit personal imports, but I'm more than likly wrong since i've only seen one of them  I dont see why you couldn't import and compliance the car on personal import, its not like the CTR was ever released here... unless they claim the VTi-R as the CTR equivalent... then your screwed. Oh well Aussy import laws suck... stupid government thinks it helps keeps jobs in australia... people want an import... people will get an import.

I know at least one CTR around Melb was a personal import... well that's wot the guy told me...

Anyways, i wouldn't think ppl would pay $30k for a 99 CTR wif 125k km... (hmm, or would they??? hehe... ). Cos for a little more, you can get an ITR, or $10k more, an S2000! Well, personally I'm thinking maybe $25k ish. It can't really be mint condition with 125k on the clock after 5 years, can it???

ITRs are cheap compared to CTRs in NZ. I think it has to do with the rarity. Typically CTRs97-00 are around $20-25K NZ and ITRs 96-99 are $11-18K NZ. I like the idea of a ctr and the yellow one looks in better condition than one of the lower km 2000 models.

I imagine there'd be a fair few willing to pay for the CTRness of it :P

125,000 km???

oh my god...is like 5 times return flight from Melbourne to Tokyo and back to melbourne.......

...and your point is??????

BTW - 125,000 kms is nothing - I have more than twice that on my SiR.

I'll have hit 270,000 once I get to Melbourn in it next week - original motor still going strong. :)

His point is its alot of Kilometers.
For a four cylinder no matter what build quality its a lot of K's.

Resale and reliablilty wise its not great in 'australian conditions', average but not great.

In my opinion over $20K for a CTR with 125K kms is too much

125,000 is nothing.

Let me see, EM1 VTiR Civic with 100K+ kms (which the majority seem to have on them) for 18-19 grand or a CTR with the same on it for a similar price? I know which I'd be buying.

Milage is nothing and the only reason I'd fly to Tokyo and back is to get parts :D

Reliability wise? Like I pointed out, mine has twice that and then some and it's damn reliable. It depends HOW it's travelled the miles. I'd take a high milage country driven car over a low-milage city car any day of the week (depending on them both being of equal condition). Resale maybe - but if someone wants it, they'll pay that much or more for it.

for a fairly recent car thats a lot of KM's but it suggests a lot of hwy usage, good reason to buy... better than something with low KMs thats been thrashed.

but would you get a 125,000km car?
unless he resleves the cylinder and with newer piston....

i think by 100,000km, your sleves will probably wore out bit..but still..over 100,000km sounds awfully alot...

alot of things will come into me-mind when buying a used car...but if people won't even consider this basic stuff, might just end up with lots of problems...

I don't even know why I bother responding to your posts pglee - you have no real comprehension.

Re-sleeve the engine? What crap.

rofl.. by 100000km's the sleeves are wearing out a bit.
i have 148k on my car, boosted at 10psi for 8k of those. still doesnt burn any oil. u do the sums.

i've done over 100,000km in my car, and i don't even burn one drop of oil btw changes. You do the regular services and checking intervals... your engine should be in good nick no matter how many km's.

Would you rather buy a car with 60,000km that has been trashed and not serviced, or buy one with 100,000 km's and has been taken care of and serviced correctly. Also the conditions in which it is driven in is also important. If a car has high km's and is driven on the freeway all the time, it would be in far better nick than one with lower km's and driven in peak hour traffic (stopping n starting).

then why you still bother to post it up again?...

one thing, everybody got their own point, and not everyone must listen to your point, and please have some respect on other people's point, like others also didn't listen to mine as well, so keep it to yourself if you don't like it...

oh by the way, stop picking up on people, you think is damn funny huh to irritate others, this is just a forum, you don't have to say all those stuff if people doesn't agree wit the point you are so determine with...i thought was fun to post, but it seems like some others just love to kick some shit outta others...

one more thing, if you really interested to import an EK9, why don't you consider EP3?

the price is not far away though...still a Civic Type R...

Breeze
15-06-2004, 05:11 PM
EP3 is $45K NZ see latest trademe.co.nz, EK9 is $20K NZ. 2002 JDM DC5 ITR is $36K NZ. Do you think I could afford an EP3?? And even if I did and it came in with 40000kms after I'd driven it for a year I'd prob only be able to get $30K for it as people tend to think the civic type R should be less than the integra type R when in reality it is the other way around.

And with the logic of some people who obviously haven't opened up too many high km honda motors it would be worn out and the piston skirts and rod bolt holders would need replacing ;) .

wats the conversion from NZ to AUD?

Breeze
15-06-2004, 08:54 PM
NZ$=$0.91AU

So that would be $41K and change. Still a lot!
