Hey guys...

i am out to lower my civic, but i do not know which brand lowering springs i should get. i heard that king springs become really soft after awhile... and i hear that Pedders springs are absolutely crap...

so far i am considering Kmacs as i haven't heard anything bad about them. does anyone know any weak points of the Kmacs?

what about lovells? no one seems to have any installed on their cars...

your opionions would be greatly appriciated :D

it all depends on how low u go, u need better shocks if u wont want them to bottom out everytime u hit a speed hump n hole.

i have whiteline on my car and they feel very nice between comfort and handling

if i was to change them i'd probably go eibach as my friends have them and they feel really nice for just springs!

Ive had Pedders, Kings and Kmacs

My civic runs kings, my commos had pedders and Kmac...

Kings are the worst. Pedders are great and Kmac are better still :)

Ive also heard great things about Whiteline, but i am yet to test theyre products

pedders are not kingsprings resprayed.
kings have a 12 month warranty and pedders have a 3 year warranty.
if they were the same why would pedders offer a 3 year warranty? :)

Who cares.

I have had a set of kmacs and they were not bad, a friend has also had a set which broke in half. I also have a mate on here who is using coilover sleeves and has not had a single problem either.

It all depends on how low you want the car and the price you want to pay, usually the more you pay, the better the ride quality.

Just to put it into perspective, you can get a complete set of kmac springs at any height for $200. Kings are about double that and they only offer specific heights. The coilover sleeves are anywhere from $300 to $500.

or else you could order from the states. H&R , Neuspeed will far surpass the quality of kings. made in germany

or you could look at ground control coilovers. eibach springs with coilover sleeves. this is a well known , famous american brand and have been producing these for decades.

I've ended up buying all my gear from teh states.

I have Lovells in and the Handling is excellent, there's no "bumpy" ride like you'd expect when ur car is pretty much slammed.. excellent handling both normal and spirited driving... First time i used them and i recommend. Team them up with strut brace + swaybar and ur laughing !!
I have also used King Super Lows, Whiteline Flatout, and these Lovells.

Have to say the Lovells are up there with Whiteline .. but the king's where way too bouncy !!

Whatever you choose, don't choose Kings. They are too rough and sag easy. Unfortunately they are all I've had in the past.
I've heard really good things about Lovells and a few good posts about Pedders. If you can afford it though, go coilovers as your standard shocks won't last with lowered springs.

I had pedders on my ED CRX, was low as, but ride was crap. Kings are alright i reckon the ride is alright, they aren't too hard, i'd say they feel fine for street use. i have eibach, very happy with them, but they don't usually come cheap.

PS. set of EG king springs lows for sale. $120 Melb...

alex i would reccommend ground controls from the states..get them off ebay they come with eibach springs and are well used in the

later u can pair them up with koni yellows and you will have an awesome setup.

ive got kings super low on my civic and when i get into the car it goes like another 2 cm lower? i weigh like 100kg so i dunno if thats normal or not. but i get the feeling they have become softer or worn out? ive had them for just over 1.5 yrs. after reading what you guys have said about lovells i kinda regret getting kings as i had the choice of getting lovells too! oh wellllllllllllllll... but i guess for normal street driving they seem okay.

all those springs should be alright
dont forget to get uprated shocks.
its like saying is a sony tv better than panasonic.
both have their share of problems.
ive heard stories of kings sagging, kmac sagging, pedders sagging.

many use super low springs with stock shocks and blame the springs because their ride is bouncy and bumpy.
what do they expect if they use it with oem or worn shocks with lowered uprated springs. it aint going to handle any good.

With the ground control kit from the states, there are specific sleeves to suit Koni shocks, I'm not sure if these sleeves (for the Koni's) will work with stock or other shocks. But yeah, the springs are eibach, and you can select the spring rates, or choose from a variety of preset spring applications.
Great choice if you can afford them. Especially with the matching strut tops

Yea 17s,

Front: 2.25
Rear: 3.25-3.5

I got my rears reset, so I'm not exactly sure on the height (it had quite a bit of camber, you don't want that!, unless you intend to get a camber kit). Originally it was the same as the front.

wondering how these springs compare using the standard suspension found in a ek1 in terms of handling?

does lowering the car make ur ride crap? like comparing pedders to standard suspension
