i've got extractors at home that been sitting there for about a year, and soon i plan to put them on my car...

i pulled them out and the outside has rust on it... should i just leave the rust on the extractors or should i clean them off...???

should i just cover my extractors in Heatwrap tape???

has anyone had this problem???

it still corrodes,it doesnt keep it shiny finish forever

mate all you need to do is sand it at varying grades, abviously first with a courser grade, right down to a wet dry fine grit paper until you can see the silverness of the steel again. After which you can polish it back up with metal polish

i reckon this will do the job

stainless steel doesnt rust. it corrodes differently
It just wears out. I learnt that @ uni

My stainless extractors have never rusted up. I also have stainless bolts on my rx7.. on the outside, exposed to water, and heat and everything nasty... no rust boys... they simply wear out :)

Instead of sandpaper, use 0000 steel wool. Then finish up with a metal polish.
