Oil pressure sender

Hey guys,

just wondering does the oil pressure sending unit (the little thing above the oil filter) displays a fault when a voltage goes through it, or when a voltage is stopped from going through it?

Ie, if i drove with it not connected, would it light up on the dash?

Crap, so i dun even know if i got it on right.

should i just cut the boots around it and put it on?
