by the looks of the picture you are trying to take your boss kit off. No there is no trick to it. If you are finding it hard to loosen it try using a torque wrench or lever your rachet with something.

btw when you say pulling you mean unscrewing the bolt in the middle yeah?

as said above.
Its held on by a 19mm nut in the centre.
First , LOCK the steering wheel ( take key out , turn until the wheel "steering locks" to keep it stiff.
Then , apply a 19mm socket + extension + ratchet or impact driver....crack it off. Abit of leverage and you will get it off in no time

In your photo the center nut is off already if you car is like this photo put the screws back in the STEERING wheel, not the center nut, so the steering wheel is back in it's normal position with just the 6 screws around the steering wheel are back in in other words put it back together. Put the center nut on just a few threads then slap the front outside edge of the steering wheels a few times like if you were pissed at your girlfriend and just started slapping the wheel on one side then the other. Then slap the backside (toward the dash) of the wheel and that part should come off but watch out it pops off with some force and if you don't have the center nut on a few threads it may hit you in the face. The moral of the story is start by loosening the center nut then take off the whole wheel and hub FIRST before you take out all the small screws that hold the wheel to the hub.

hrmm sounds good... ill try that when I get home from work. thanks guys for help!

As said, loosen the centre nut then refit the wheel and using a hammer fist pound the left and right sides of the wheel and if need be hit the back of the wheel on both sides too. This should dislodge the stuck boss kit.;)

You could also try putting the nut back on so it is flush with the thread so that you hit both and not one or the other witch will cause damage.
Then you get your hammer in hand and place both knees under the wheel and use them to push back towards you. then with your other hand pull on the top of the wheel. then lightly tap the flush nut and thread with your hammer.

it may not need this method unless its really stuck so first i'd try the above method of hitting the back of the wheel alternately with your palms.

good luck mate you will get it no doubt

quick question: will an autotecnica boss kit go with a momo steering wheel???
...i know it sounds stoopid but i forgot to ask the guy at the auto store

...searched threads and this is the closest i could find, thought it would be a good addition to this thread...maybe

Yeah it will. All you need is for the little screw holes to line up, and the autotechnica boss kits have both patterns of holes, so you'll have no problem.

I've used the same autotechnica boss with my old knockoff plastic steering wheel and the new momo one.

thanks guys, yeh your both right...the autotecnica boss kits come with a total of 12 drilled holes to suit any steering wheel :D

ok one more question...im selling this boss kit on ebay i got when i won my momo steering wheel, but i dnt know much about it...im pretty sure the horn slip ring is not included cos isnt it a sort of brass disc that fits to the bottom of the boss???

also does the slip ring usually come with the bos or steering wheel and can it be replaced???

thanks heaps guys, heres the item if u want to check it out
