View Full Version : Microtech LT10s computer
well i am looking into getting one of these computers to replace the crappy ecu i have in the car atm. I would just like to know more info about them and also info on how well it would go with my D16Y non vtec with the T3 turbo. Any info on them would be good as i dont no that much about them, have looked them up but would really like to know other peoples exprience with them. (i have been offered one at a god price...)

find a tuner that knows how to tune them first.

Aza, if your tuner has half an idea how to install and tune one, it will work and work well.

DynoDave would be the best to go to for any computer tuning, He tunes all of our Microtech's in our street and race cars..
I would go with the LT10s with the X4 ignition box and 4 coils..

how is microtech illegal?
aimre
28-02-2007, 12:42 AM
its closed loop
ie: wont take info from your cars sensors and adjust to suit.
plus u wait to see how much these microtech tuners charge u. then recharge u when u cant warm ur car up properly. then when your coils blow... lol. stick to a dizzy and hondata at most. leave the microtechs to rotors, when u dont expect good fuel economy anyway.

or u can wait and see how much it costs to install, and then wait and see how happy you are with it?
you can either diss the ecu or u can diss the tuner of the ECU. like ALL things there are pro's and cons. you tell people not to bad the emanage yet ur bagging microtech, in your opinion, they may not be up to ur standard, but for other people they might be brilliant
he wanted peoples experiences and opinions. I gave him both. Not some hersay about finding a tuner and asking advice on a product they love to sell because of how much time they spend on tuning it.
Ive been in a lt10 installed and tuned by dave. Unless u spend ALOT of money on tuning time, cold startup tuning and road tuning, you wont be happy with anything but full throttle. RRP for a LT-10 and 4 coils is over 2k. Add another 2k for tuning.
Ive told u the application where microtech is brilliant. Its called a rotory.
PS. At one stag, COP was a big bandwagon for higher- hp applications on hondatech. Not soon after, the bandwagon was back to dizzy setups (mainly MSD billet dizzy). COP proved to be nothing more then a pain in the ass. Setting up crank triggers and troubleshooting is just way more trouble then the gains (honda dizzy good for 20psi stock).
emanage, unichip, hondata and powerfc. Depending on your application, your honda doesnt need anything else. All tried tested and proven for bang for buck.

Im turbocharging my 89 CRX ED9 (assuming it's Obd0) is it worth a conversion to fit a hondata or will a microtech do?
I really want something that will give me bang or buck, allow data logging, and give me boost control.
Advice?

nah don't go wolf, its a pain. i had one and it was alot of trouble. I've got PFC now and its great.
Just rem that if they aren't able to use stock dizzy, and you need to modifiy your dizzy, then its a pain to start and all sorts of other crap. I've been there done that and hated it.
Also if you want a tuner try Hitman
http://www.hitman.hm/index2.html
He fixed up my last tune on my toyota and was really good. He's good for unusual setups and he tunes microtech

The Hondata (any type) will work better, period...
Though it can offer datalogging, boost control etc... It comes at a price.
Plus the need for additional parts.
Crossover loom, OBD1 or 2 Dissy, OBD1 ECU, Hondata unit + a bit of wiring & a tune.
The Microtech can be arguably had for less.
It should only be fitted as a piggyback on the factory ECU,
No wiring under the hood should be altered. All wiring should be at the ECU.
This will make it much nicer, particularly with cold start & idle.
PM mr173 on these forums,
He may still have a 2nd hand unit to sell from his old set-up.
Also be aware that the microtech datalogging isn't anything to write a book about, boost control isn't there & even narrow band lambda doesn't work.
Bang for bucks, it is capable of good power output & quite acceptable drivability when installed as a piggyback.
Cheers

It depends on the chassis it came in.
If it's the EK1 you'll have issues as the ECU is the wack 2 plug job that looks like a P30 but isn't.
If you're in Sydney, drop in so I can have a quick look & let you know what we can do.
Cheers

Dont bother with the Hondata on the d16y4. Waste of money. Put it towards an engine conversion.

I'm with Jimmy on this one...
It would be pointless and a waste of time and money tuning a SOHC non VTec 88kw motor.
If you want more power start saving your cash for something that will make far better value down the track.
just curious thats all... cheers
hahah
That's how it all starts then $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Old thread though...
Aza (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/member.php?u=12588) has long since moved on from his boosted EK and gone to the dark side!
