View Full Version : AC cannot keep up
Okay, Brisbane is ****en hot. Todays been a cloudless 31C. I find myself, even with the AC on full blast sweating my **** off in the car.
What can I do?
I got 15% tint all around, which has helped a fair bit (I had an old 35%). But still doesnt freeze the car in a few minutes.
Would an AC re-gas help? Or is it one of those thigns where once the gas is gone, it doesnt cool at all? If it possible for it to not cool as well as it should?

Hondas generally have very efficient aircon and heaters......you may have to get it checked out...may be a number of things such as the compressor or the gas like you suggested. Go to your local aircon/radiator specialist and ask them.

got my aircon regassed and sanitized by gws honda in melb. very good, i use to have to have it on 4 before i felt anything, now im cold on 2
btw it cost 120 dollars
Thanks, i wasnt sure if AC re-gasing was one of those things that work, then suddenly stop.
How can I tell if it's running at most efficiency at the moment? I mean, I dont want to waste money getting useless stuff replaced if it's doing the best it can do?

last time i had mine regassed my mech checked and got a 6degree reading for the air coming out
A good tip to make the most of your regas is to use it ones in a while, like even in the winter, run your aircon, not sure what its fo, but to get the gas working or something
today was ****ING hot in sydney, and i must admit it took 10 minutes for it to blow really nice and cold.
I do have anyhting OT question but ill ask that in the Noob forum

Check the view window of your A/C system when the compressor is running. If it looks like flowing liquid, then you have gas. If it looks like flowing cloudy fluid, then it's partial. If it is clear with nothing inside, then you've been leaking all your gas.

It's in the engine bay. Follow the silver A/C lines. On mine, the window is just behind the driver's side headlight.

Was it out of gas? Remember not to get ripped off by the mech when you get it regassed. It shouldn't cost much. They just have to connect the gas cylinder to your A/C line in the engine bay (there is an inlet there), fill 'er up and you're good to go. Not worth paying more than $50!
