Hey all,
with today being a blustery day in Sydney i had a question about aircond i was hoping you guys couls answer for me
I noticed that the actual compressors isnt always working, now i know there is a switch that will turn it off on full throttle applications (i think) and i know that it sometimes will switch the compressor off... but when i first started on my drive home there was abit of traffic, and it seems as though when the cars idling or low revs in traffic it just doesnt turn on enough
can someone explain to me whether this is a fault or if this is the way the system is designed to run?

I notice that mine gets stronger/colder when I'm not idling. i.e. keep the car at 1000rpm instead of 500rpm. Maybe it's just that at idle the pump isn't being run fast enough.
But to answer your question, my DA9 teg does the same thing.

Yeh see even if i keep the revs up it doesnt kick in... its as if there needs to be load on the engine to get the compressor to kick in.
I was wondering if this is hard wired into the system or if there is a way to work arround it?

what was your A/C setting at? All the way into "cool"?

All I can suggest is check your A/C gas level. I was in 40 C weather and the A/C handled it fine.

it wasnt that it didnt handle it, it did, it just took a long time to get cool enough (black interior), and it peeved me that while i was in stop start traffic it was swithcing off and just blowing hot air around

when at full cool, the compressor shouldn't turn off.... Have you checked your alternator to see if it is outputting sufficient voltage?

nope, and i wouldnt have the foggiest on how to do that!

with exception of people with climate control....
IF your coolness is rev dependent then the clutch on the A/C unit is on the way out.... time for an exy rebuild or new/2nd hand unit
also chances are Honda's being more advanced and not skimping out on technology, your entire unit would have that valve thing that shuts your unit off if the coolant gets hot and it can't efficiently compress to cold fluid. the solution for this is to heat wrap your headers AND aircon pipes with something like the ThermotecII sold by your sponsors Underground Imports

hmmmm well my systm has always been this way, i highly doubt the clutch system has been going since the car was new

I'm not familiar with Honda A/C systems
but your problem could be gas level in system or even
a faulty thermostat in the A/C system,
could be a partial blockage in system
get A/C checked:o
