Hi all,

Need some help with this problem that started happening last week, when it was very hot in melboune. has the A/C on during the drive on my civic ED and when I stopped the A/C, car started to iddle very rough.
Now, when I start the car, the rough iddling goes on and on, sometime the engine also dies. the RPM is hesitantly staying between 500-700. I heard it is suppose to iddle around 700. when the car is warmed up, the rpm is a little below 1000 and runs fine as normal. problem only occurs at the start.

Anyone can shed a light ? I have recently done the carb mods from
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13069&highlight=dual+carby

not sure if that is related.

thanks

one thing that comes to mind is fuel vapour lock. but I thought that is a thing of the past due to better fuel system design.

Clean the wax pallet choke valve
Give the carburetter a good clean ftw
Check the resistance of your spark leads using a multimeter
Check the spark plugs, they should be a faint greyish brown colour. If not, or if they are old, replace them.
Replace the Fuel Filter and check/replace the air filter
Change the engine oil
