View Full Version : Is my car illegal?
I just lowered my DC2 on King Superlows. Looks ****en shit hot, but it's very, very low as you can imagine. A good 3" drop at least.
I quickly whipped out the ruler, and measured at the side skirts and she comes up roughly 140-150mm.
But if the Cops pull me over. How do they test the 100mm? Do they have a ball or something they roll through?
UNDER the engine, theres that plastic thing which may put me under the 100mm. But its soft plastic. Headers etc are all up higher than sideskirts/front bar so they arent a problem (well problem to cops, BIG problem to me in carparks/driveways).
Thanks

NSW?

100mm clearance within 1m of axles.
There are other factors.
Sounds to me your car is going to be a defect due to the plastic. -- What is it there for?

the plastic is a splash guard preventing water from splashing up into your engine bay
as covered, you need to be able to drive over something 100mm tall, in the old school days theyd say you need to be able tot drive over a coke can without knocking it over!

These days they have a stick with a 100mm diameter wheel on it they roll under the car. In QLD, all fixed parts of the car must be 100mm or higher. This includes guards or any sort as my oil sump guard was too low on my Lancer and had to get it raised.

But you cal always remove the under splash guard.
have a look at your muffler as well, that may sit lower than 100mm

Mudflaps aren't considered. They aren't a rigid part of the chasis / body.
Remove the Cover, or raise the front of your car.

if mudflaps were illegal... my car was at illegal hot when stock :S mudflaps were 85mm of the ground stock height.

mudflaps are not included as they line up with the wheels and have a much reduced chance of coming into contact with anything.
well anything that the wheels havent run over already.

underbody tray is useless anyway at this stage.
when new condition, it shouldnt stick out so much so that we can notice.
just take it off and get better underbody trays.
I heard lot of good thing about that thing!

so mudflaps are okay because they arent 'rigid' but that plastic flap is? is pretty darn not-rigid

if you have to ask if your car is illegal it's probably safe to say 95% it will be hahaha
and those 5% with legals cars will most likely get dicked due to poor attitudes towards cops or 'police discression'

Just what are you trying to say from what i can see you started talking about the probability of his car being illegal in percentages.
so if his car has a 95% probabilty thats its defectable that leaves a 5% probability that its not defectable or illegal.
it doesnt leave 5% of people have illegal cars
