98 accord v6 problem

i have a problem with my 98 accord v6 when it is in park it revs up and down constantly and when sitting in drive it revs over 1k which is odd as it has never done any of these before.does anyone know the reason and how to fix or will i have to take it to a mechanic?

i would say just take it to a honda dealer and then get them to look at it cause they are the best when it comes to fixing up honda cars .....well isnt that obvious LOL

happened to my accord before.. as what aaroong said.. IACV, might have to replace..

you need a new iac valve you can try and remove it clean it with carby cleaner and try it again but i dont think it will fix it.common problem they just get full of carbon and block up

the car seems to be running ok now lol.maybe it was becasue it was low on petrol and getting the crap on the bottom of the tank or maybe some bad petrol or becasue it had been sitting at the spray painters for while not being used.ill see how it goes if it happens again.thanks everyone for your input.
