I popped my track cherry last night
Did best of 17.907
Ran it with full interior, sound system and 17" rims (with pretty bad tyres)

I kinda made the decision to race it right at the gate, i was gonna go just to spectate but thought why not....i had fun and that's what counts.

For the next run i'll deffinately strip the whole car and run it on some smaller rims and better tyres.

For those who don't know my car: EH9, D16Y1 with whale penis enlargement (thanx to trav) and a cat back zorst. Can't wait for the next one

rofl snap.

yeah i had loads of fun, i just need to get my 60ft down for a better et, and i think that involes me having to drive my car properly lol!

hehe I had heaps of fun tho it was harder than i thought - ran full interior and 36psi up front (running as the car would be on the street) and kept forgetting to turn traction control off which stuffed a couple of my runs. my best time with it off for the night was:

60ft 2.415
330ft 6.751
660ft 10.290
m.p.h 68.87
k.p.h 110.84
1000ft 13.326
E.T. 15.855
M.p.h 88.37
k.p.h 142.22
over/under 15.855
Air 30deg Track 36deg 58%H

was a very balmy night and i still have 0 skills - hoping for low fifteens next time lol

I had heaps of fun hanging out with you guys and watching everyone have a great time...Unfortunately for me, i suck...or my car does...either way...very disapointed in how i ran.

EG hatch with b18cr
stripped interior everything behind front seats GOOOONE
Mugen headers and intake

and the excuses:
17's...(shitty tyres)
shitty tune (In my opinion - ie. best trap of 94mph:thumbdwn: )
and gheybo bodykit!!:p

Best time was an agonising 15.010 @ 90 or 92 mph (can't remember) with a 2.2 60ft.

On the way home i thought to myself...why was i dumping the clutch. I was telling Dave minutes before my run...ease out on the clutch and you'll be sweet...Don't know if he took my advice but i sure as hell should have...lol

JasonGilholme

Its just the pressure man.

you just need to concentrate on your run and listen to your car.

yeah but the thing is...i wasn't all that nervous...i have been to the track quite a few times...Every run (about 6 in total) was driven the same way...maybe launching slightly differently...ie 3k...3.5k...4k

Also...hard to listen to your car when the helmet muffles everything :p :p :p But i agree...i think i need to learn my car a bit better...

Finally found my fuel cut off...8700...tried to hold on gear a couple times...hit cutoff only slightly, but killed my run! 3rd to 4th was a real bummer! drops revs too much going into 4th...and yes...4th!!! :(

A few more runs and you'll settle in.

Yea i was having the same problem had to shift into 4th just at the line a real pain in the but. On a good day with some improved driving i think we should both be capable of low 15's

I'll be out there as soon as I get a few things fixed. ie the wheels stop looking/feeling like they're about to fall off.

Was a good night despite the heat. I loved watching Chris' euro. And the ea k20.

First time for quite a few people + the heat at least means that things should only get better from here on out.

On a serious note however...How much does the RA (Relative Altitude) play when it comes to drag racing. The guys keep mentioning the fact that it was a super balmy night...The RA when we first got there was around 3000...those times during the end of the night were in the 2600 region...

Just a point im interested in analysing...

dont know if i speak for anyone else, but IMO, when i read threads like this, i just really care about your ET's, so i suggest, next time you go, strip the car hard out and try your best, lower your pressure. run low fuel. adjust the height.. and bring back some hektik times !!

just my 2cents. ;) .. but then again, i guess some ppl just run their cars to see what it can do on the street..

Air 30deg Track 36deg - you can't say that is an excuse Zco. Far from ideal conditions for drag racing.

To froggy and friends - take your s13 or whatever you drive and post up your commentary on other forums. We don't want your sort of comments here. Lack of encouragement only leads to people not posting experiences on the track/strip (unless they are running a super fast stripped out 1000kg Honda with a K20A).

This section is about track/drag racing. No where do we limit these experiences to sub 14 second 1/4 mile runs. :thumbdwn:

my old d16a8 EG hatch back in like 2 years ago ran 15.1@90mph , 2.0 sec 60ft ( mods :i/h/e/clutch).Track temperature was nearly 50'C. IMO for Allmotor , track temperature doesnt affect 1 sec or something.
I also ran 12.3@109mph on a super hot weather back in compak attak 2005.
The key is to learn , practice and get the car set up properly.

Im certainly not happy with my 15.01...infact im fuggin furious with the time...it's pathetic...

It was the first time i have been to the track with this particular car...and having only owned it a few months, am still getting use to it...

Being a knobshine and dissing these guys for having a go is completely uncalled for. Improvements can be made, and driving techniques can definately be improved on. Instead of being quiet and waiting until some decent times are run, we chose to talk about our experience now.

You really need to lay off all the name calling and general negative comments. Everyone has to learn in one way or another...I'm not using it as an excuse for my poor times, but the weather i feel did play a slight role in what times were achieved...whether it was .2 of a second or nothing...

Atleast the next time we go out there, our times might have improved and we can compare what happened.

track temps + slips are here - very similar to the day you guys ran. 34degrees, then dropped to 29 later that night

Fishman: Where in this thread did we say anything like that?? you came in here and started saying shit for no reason.

There was a few posts saying our times and what we thought about the night and we're giving each other pointers and then you come in and start saying "Underground imports is leeeeet!". I could picture a bogan hangin out the side of a commodore sayin that.

Anyway, your initial comments weren't called for so keep it constructive or keep it shut. Simple.

I can't speak for old carby d16 motors but I know for sure the K24 in the Euro runs much slower in the heat. It is depressing sometimes how much slower it is and that is with the air con off.

not excuses, just giving some background for those that are interested, for those that aren't like yourself you can just look at the ET and forget the rest.

My first time out I wanted to see how the car went as it is on the street, that way in the future i can see what taking some interior out and dropping the pressures improves times by if at all.

at the end of the day it was just for a bit of fun (for me anyway) so I'll use whatever trim i want LOL !!1

All the children on school holidays can't help themselves from spamming or bagging other people.

Your post was deleted Fishman because you can't stop putting other people down. Or didn't you read the PM? Go join some other forum and not Ozhonda if that is an indication as to how you are going to behave.
