View Full Version : Which wheels on Luxury?

Does anybody have either of the two optional 17" wheel choices for the Luxury? See pics below. If so, what are your opinions and can you attach a photo? Also, how much does the dealer charge for these instead of the regular 17"s?

I believe that the sporty wheels are actually quite dark.

When buying a new Euro does the dealer charge any extra for them?

Has anybody seen an example with the other optional 17" wheels?

Yeh they do charge extra, not sure how much exactly but I wouldnt pay more than $200 extra since you are not getting the original wheels.
The standard ones cost honda virtually the same amount as the accessory ones.

I wouldnt be surprised if some dealers charged $1500 for them and ripped off the poor customer big time.

ps. yfin yeh I know it needs a drop, i'll get around to it soon enuf :p

From memory this guy is running the sports suspension kit in the UK - which is the same. Mine does look lower but it could be down to the tyres. 235 tyres have a diametre 1 cm bigger which doesn't sound like much but it is really noticeable. Has same effect as a 1cm drop.

You must be getting a fair bit of grip from 235 tyres. My current car has 235/45/17s but my soon-to-be-delivered Euro will only have the standard 17"s which are 225/45. Although I'm sure that there's probably little difference on the Euro anyway.

I wonder whether the optional accessory wheels have different dimensions...

Anyway, I'm actually going to stick to the original fitment 17" Luxury wheels as I reckon they look sweet on the black Euros - both sporty and classy. While I do love the gun-metal look I think the car will look a little less "boy-racer" with the classy ones one. But OF COURSE that is purely a matter of personal taste.

ah that's probably it, wouldn't a 1cm increase in diametre translate to a 5mm change in clearance to the fender and 5mm extra ground clearance?

no wonder the cars in the states look a touch lower with similar drops given there 50 profile tyres on 17" rims

Yep that is right. Good point about the US - it is odd Australia went with 225/45.

It's actually the US that has the odd size (215 50 R17).

Japanese, European and Australian cars all run 225 45 R17 (and 215 45 R17 in the Euro R for some reason!).

i think i got quoted $350 per wheel so and extra 1400, and yeh u dont get the stockies as well so i turned it down. i know manufacturer wheels are normal well made compared to the cheaps 1500 with tyre packages around but im sure a gutter will be scrapped or hit sooner or later so i'll get some cheapies later, i also want 18's i reckon they look awhole let better

There's at least one Arctic Blue Euro with the 5-spoke rims in Melbourne. ;)

And that particular Euro has unique centre-caps.

Can I claim the title of having the first set of those rims in Australia (fitted to my car 16/10/04)? :)

imo white rims belong to a DC2R or EF civic, it would look a bit tacky on the euro ;)

Out of the 3 factory sets Id go with the 5 spoke.

But wasnt that the same wheel design in 16' for the base Accord a few years ago?

^It was 5 Spoke but not gunmetal, and the spokes looked flatter

Does anyone know whether you can still get 05 Luxury 17" rims from the dealerships? I already have them but one got scraped up when I got too close while parking to those damn bluestone gutters, the dealership I go to, Essendon Honda reckons they can only get 06/07 rims? Although my dealer is a good bloke he reckons if the car had 06/07 rims they would have given us a spare one free of charge!

He also reckons he knows you can get them repaired, but didn't know where, anyone here know of where I could take them rim to get it fixed up around the Melb area?

Honda does have spares of these available, and can order them for you. However, expect to pay around the $600 mark for a single rim. If I were you I'd investigate the repair option - assuming the damage isn't too serious, you should be able to get your rim repaired for a fraction of the replacement cost.

Yeah would prefer to get it repaired rather than get a new rim, OR I could wait untill I need new tyres then put on the spare rim/tyre and use the damaged rim for a spare? Although when I last had my Euro serviced in Jan they reckoned that I still had 65 percent wear left on my tyres!

Is the 05 spare wheel a full sized one? If so, then yeh u can use it after getting new tyres. You might wanna get the same tyre brand+model so the tread and handling is the same

Yep, from 05 onward all Euros got a full-sized spare.

Yeah its a full sized rim/tyre the thing is I have to wait till I do a tyre replacement to ensure the wear will be accurate, no point doing it now and having one new tyre and one worn on the front ! Of course I will have to get the same brand/type tyre to ensure the handling doesn't suffer.

Why wait? If you go to a tyre shop they will quickly swap the damaged rim with the spare + balance both and you can use the same tyre. It should cost about $10 to do this.

So you mean put the new spare rim onto my current tyre? I guess I never really thaught of that how stupid of me lol! Not sure about their rotation policies at Honda after the last service my dealer just told me how much wear was left on the tyres, obviously the front wear faster because it is front wheel driver plus the steering factor?

Do you have any idea who would do repairs on the damaged rim Yfin or how much I am looking at cost wise?

Yep - put the new spare rim on the current tyre. A tyre shop can swap those in 10 minutes.

I have never had rims repaired before - but if it is going to be your spare and it is just a scrape (ie not a major problem) I would leave it in the same condition in the boot and forget about it. No point fixing a scrape if it is going to be your spare.

Yeah that is what I figured, would I need a balance if I swapped the rim over to the current tyre or should it drive the same? Your right though there is no point in getting the rim fixed if I can swap it over, doesn't matter if the spare rim is scraped hehe The damage is noticible when you get up close, I am now very cautious when parking in the older suburbs those old bluestone gutters are sharp (that and apparently I can't park properly ;) )

Yes, when tyres are fitted they need to be balanced. Fitting and balancing should cost about $8 per tyre - well that is how much I paid last time.
