Anyone in QLD know which Insurance Company is best to go with for a Modified Car like we have? I'm currently with AAMI but if I have an accident they won't insure the modified parts on my car :thumbdwn:
Thanks Guys.

Just Car?
They are underwritten by AAMI, but covered Legal Modifications. Contact and verify modifications.

Definately just cars. They may be quite pricey though, but that all depends on mods. I'm insured through AAMI at the moment but will soon be just cars for the civic i'm buying as its not quite stock :p

GIO has started a new arm to their Motor Insurance portfolio

Its call Custom Cars... give them a shout too, although in QLD GIO doesnt operate, with it being part of Suncorp, Only Suncorp sells motor insurance there

Cool will have to check their prices. So this obviously means that in the event of an accident the insurance company will replace the wrecked parts with exactly the same aftermarket parts right, not stock parts?
I don't mind paying a little more for that luxury but it has to be within reason.
Bloody rip off insurance company's.

They'll just give you the money for them.
They tend to just give you values, rather than the actual item; it's all aftermarket, and theyd spend too much time on chasing parts to be cost-effective.

That's why it's better to be over-insured. Insuring your car for minium means your car falls with depreciation; and theyl'll take that in to account.

Get it reviewed regularly, and always keep them up to date with all modifications, no matter how minor you think they may be.

:)

I don't think you can give Rep Points till you get some yourself, that's probably why.

Just got a quote from Just car insurance:
I paid $12,000 for my car 1 1/2 yrs ago,96 Model civic sedan.
$1055 for comprehensive
If stolen I have to pay $1,200 excess and get back $9,500  .
If at fault in an accident $800 excess, not at fault $400 excess. That's OK.

They said if I have a log book on the car they can bump up the $9500 a bit,but the previous owner didn't give me one.
AAMI will give me the full $12,000 if stolen but wont cover the modified parts.
Will try Shannons then Suncorp.

Ryno Insurance offers a policy which is very similar to Shannons, and most quotes I've seen from them seem to be cheaper than an equivalent Shannons policy. Haven't gone through their policies in detail, but a lot of ppl on the rexnet forums use them. Might be worth giving them a call.

I'm with Shannons though :P Was previously with Just Cars and absolutely no problems with their service.

"Young and Cool" & "Famous Classic" are two other insurers who you may want to consider.

Like all things though read through the PDS to check what they cover and if it is appropriate for you.
