honda coolant actually comes in 2 types.
Type 1 = green
type 2 = blue.

Type 2 is the new type afaik.

i have only heard by word of mouth , that other types of coolant are "general" and suit all sorts of cars.
Honda coolant is produced for HONDA engines , with longevity and hassle free motoring in mind. So , id say Honda is hte best for honda road cars.

Honda's corrosion inhibitors are organic-based, while the competitors MIGHT use silicates. Silicate corrosion inhibitors can precipitate onto the water pump, and once precipitated, silicates (same as what sand is made of) accelerate wear. I think it's because of the materials that Honda uses in their engine and pump.

There are aftermarket coolants that don't use silicates, and those might be alright for use in a Honda. I'm not guaranteeing anything though.

And no, an aftermarket green-coloured coolant is not the same as a green Honda coolant. That's just the colouring that is added.
