I'm just wondering how good a deal you guys managed to get and if so, your techniques at getting it at better thant he ave of what I've heard of $27000 drive away.

Cheers guys.

I didn't buy the civic but i help my 2 of my friends to get civic vti manual $22600 or auto $24600 driveaway cause i know the manager of the dealer :)

I got a 12/2006 build, 2007 Compliance Plate, Manual Vti in Pearlescent "Sparkle Grey" with the Honda Roof Racks and Civic Branded Mats for $23,500, driveaway.

To do this I had to visit two dealers, and play one off against the other. In Sydney I'd try Rick Damelian and Scotts.

BUT, you have to be specific on colour, what add-ons you want, WHEN WILL I GET IT! You need to look and sound like you're buying a car, not wondering about the buying a car.

And be polite.

P.S. But now I want to get an extra spare key, without the electronics and it's $99 for the key blank, before I get it cut!!! Ouch!

basically once i had driven the cars i was looking at and shortlisted them (it was between an astra n the civic) i took the ultimate deal-meister (my old man) down with me and we said to them that we were buying a car that day. cash.

told them the other prices and that i wasnt fussed whether i got the astra or the civic (which was true) and told them our other quotes. we told them to give us a price that would make it happen n then we went from there

Na the purple is alright. Its not like its a light fuchsia purple. Its a pretty serious purple. I wouldnt say its any gayer than a graphite or sparkle grey sort of colour. And definitely less gay than yellow

ryan,

you probably should know this, and as i say it my "sparkle grey" could be interpretted as purple, but the rule doesn't apply to me. what i'm trying to say is that pschologists would say that purple is the colour that reflects repressed sexual urges.

sorry Muz, but i mean the sparkle gray, the pic you have is silver.

Giday Horm,

My (wife's) car is sparkle grey and I don't have any photos, but I probably should, but let me try to describe the pearlescent sparkle grey experience. the phot above is from someone elses, concourse presentation of a 2007 Vti!

Without sunlight (overcast or night-time) pearlescent grey just looks like any other dark grey mettalic, gangsta-for-da-masses. But, when the sun shines on it you can see the dark blue coloured metal flake. But it doesn't dominate the scene. Think of it as a blue hue that makes you feel good inside!

hormone
15-02-2007, 02:11 PM

not too sure because its mate rates sort of thing. but at least u know what the dealer can push it down too. becasue i know that normal price for the deal i got would be around 27000 which is a rip off i think.

Check what cars they have in the holding yard. Pick a car from that list. Then you'll be able to avoid some of that "waiting list" markup crap.

bangers178
16-02-2007, 01:07 PM
yeah thats right but the downer about that is that most of the colours in the yard are silver and white..because if u want black u'll be waiting for a while.
but yeah when u go to the dealer keep pushing the price down because they not only recieve profit from the car but also money from the honda for making sales and that the one they normal wont talk about.

Hi ya'll

I just bought my honda civic VTI like 3 weeks ago ~
Nighthawk Black AUTO with
+ free pearlescent paint
+ 30% 8-layer tinted windows
+ reduced honda floor mats from $150 to $100
+ free touch-up paint (i asked for it)
+ free white plates
+ full tank of petrol

for $25,000 drive-away at Rick Damelian Leichardt... which is ok i guess

They had nighthawk black at da back stockroom when i came and would of picked it up in 3days time... but since of da extras, just came back to get it a week's time. (can't complain to other peeps having to wait 1-3 months)

Before i went to Rick Damelian... went shopping around to the other Honda dealerships for example in PeterWarren Warwick Farm and da bullshiet arsehole salesmen gave me a quote of $25,000 with no extras. Then headed down to Homebush Honda dealership and gave me a better price of just only $24,500. Then decided for Rick Damelian coz of their price and their professionalism services which i heard they had a great reputation, but i had to negotiate the price down coz they first offered me a price of $26,900. So overall, its best to look around and get familar with the prices.

Peace ~
P.S. this is my first post YAY!!

That seemed a pretty good deal.

Did any of you guys get the paint protection option? I thought it was some sort of Teflon based spray, apparently it's just a really good wax job?

I got my 08 vti auto for $25200:

sometimes people only get a rear view sensor that decreases the beep interval time as you decrease the distance between yourself and the object in question.

the lcd merely shows as a very safe approximation (0.5m from the object = PARK = 0.0M on the lcd screen) in digits so 1.73m e.g.

What is this vehicle stability assist anyway?

The abs on this car already pisses me off by activating even at the slightest sudden stop.

I thought the Civic has eletronic stabiity control as standard? or is that different from VSA

i think the illegality of it comes in with the misrepresentation of information (in this case prices) that the dealer told me were fixed by honda HQ, who in fact knew nothing of a price increase, and under contract law, misrepresentations can render a contract void...nothing really to do with the fact i signed a contract with a certain price, because while that is the fact of it, i wouldn't have signed it where it not for the misrepresentation (and the fact the dealer had caused me to believe that he was dropping the price more so than he actually had). they told me beforehand that the prices had gone up and i signed assuming they were telling the truth.

Just make sure, the sales guy hand to u, civic MY08 with VSA (like UNLS1 said) not MY07 with year 2008 compliance

i'm getting the idea that i'm getting screwed. i posted before that i found out i was getting an MY08 (the principle told me that, but it was after hours and he didnt sound too sure of himself) and i just rang the sales guy and he told me im getting MY07 with '08 compliance. now im either geting MY08 or i paid the $300 price increase on an MY07!! can anyone clarify if the price increase applies to MY07 '08 compliance vehicles?

best thing to do, ask for the VIN# it will have an 08 or an 07 in it.

I delivered an 08 civic that was 12/07 complied in dec 07! look at the Vin my friend!

Hi,

Just wondering what other people think about a quote for $34,884 for a Honda Civic Sports 08 Model 2.0 Manual. This is a initial quote without any negotiating and trying to determine the lowest price i can get this down to!

I am thinking around 30k is possible.

Thanks

Put everything you want in a list (including warranty, slim premium plates and full tank of fuel). Go to the dealer, check the car out, tell him it is a nice car and you are in the market to buy a car today (i.e. ready to sign the dotted line today). Ask for a test drive. Tell him your price (which is say 22k if your limit is 25k). Then he will say too cheap and list out the RRP for each accessory. Then you ask him what is his price. Then he will try to push it back to you and not give a number other than RRP. Then after more empty talk, he should ask you what is the highest price you can offer. Then you say $23500 (for example). If he likes it, he will go to the "back room to talk to the manager".

Once you get it, he will ask for a deposit to secure the car. Tell him $50. Then if you decide to forfeit because of personal reasons, you're only out of pocket by $50. Heck, go $100 if you have to. But don't go too much, you don't want to lose a crazy amount. Some ppl put 5% of the car price, which I think is stupid. $50 is all you need. It is just a "gesture" that you are commited to the sale.

Remember, always be ready to walk out if you don't get your price. If your max is 25k, and he offers 25.5k and no lower, you walk.

List all the accessories you want first before talking price. Make you get don't forget anything. Don't let them mislead you by showing you how much the accessories RRP prices are. RRP is RRP, the cost price is much lower. Only talk about driveaway price. That is all you are interested in. Oh and don't get tricked into getting the paint protection. :)

Of course. back in 2004, RRP was $34500 for the Euro. I opened at $33000 driveaway without accessories. Of course the salesperson didn't like the number. Eventually we settled at $34000 driveaway with floormats, mudflaps, slimline plates and tank of 95 RON fuel.

It is too expensive at the dealer. They want $800-900 for it, but they send the car out to get it applied. Find out the place they use and you can have the same thing, including the warranty for under $300. It is basically a sealant. :)

I initially had it haggled to $24,500 (without floor mats, as they costed $100.... I bought some generic ones from Autobahn for $15 go figure) but I was quite happy after a family friend had someone in his family buy a civic VTI (A/T) at the same dealer in the $23,xxx area so I had the paper worked faxed and the dealer slashed a couple hundred after a chat.

just the vehicle. Accessories were not worth it imo. If you've worked in the industry before you know where to go to get things at a much cheaper rate, like the tint Ming was asking $695 with a life time warranty, I got my moms Avalon done for $80 darkest legal and it hasn't peeled/bubbled since a year ago

first time haggling for a car, so I didn't really have too much confidence and was happy after bringing it to $24,500 then even more so after wiping a couple hundred off that price.
As for the floor mats, I like them but to save $100 I can live with generic ones, and I do believe it is harder to haggle accessories for the base model variant.

friedbanana, personally I think you should try to lower the price for that 06 model (I believe this is the one that has parking sensors) into around 21k. Also, I dunno what's the diff between 06 and 07 for VTi... if there's none, should just go for the one that has extra stuff...

oh this is my personal opinion though

I think i will get tt car - my dad said the same thing - except he added that i will need the sensors as i will bump into other cars otherwise =(.

My friend just bought 06/06 VTi auto with 21000km with alloys for $18500,dealer only gave the seller $16000 and another bought 10/07 VTi-L auto with 6000km for $22000,and dealer only gave the seller $20000.This is just so you can get a rough guide as the price you should pay.

so basically this low price got nothing to do with the dealer since the $18,5k and $22k price tag is a private sell?

change over price

i read somewhere you get ripped if you have a car to trade and so should only talk to the dealer about a car without a trade in then when he gives you a price then start mentioning about the trade in.

After 9 weeks wait, finally picking up the manual VTi this Thursday. Had the dealer throw in 5yr warranty and roadside since we purchased it before financial sale but had to wait so long. Also got the dealer to cover the difference in rego prices, so $22625 drive away with fuel and mats after 500 trade in, not the best deal:(.

Hi all,

Tonight I had put in an offer for a vti auto for $22.5k at a WA dealer. I know for a fact that ppl in this forum are walking away for the same car for $23k with a bunch of accessories. Are we in WA paying too much for Honda? I know that should not be the case as all dealers pay the same price from Honda Australia. Only difference is the stamp duty. Please correct me if I am incorrect. I am planning a trip to Melbourne and maybe drop into Astoria honda and see what they can do for me and not the other way around.

Hi Wendy, I actually used a car broker who then sent out a request for the Honda Civic on my behalf and all dealerships would then make a bid for the lowest price. I actually just found out that the winning dealership is Southern Highland Motor Group.

Hi Tokyonite, the accent lighting retails for around $600... now that I think about it, quite expensive for three small LEDs... :)

I was just waiting to get confirmation that the 5 year warranty and 24 hour road side assist was going to be included as per the Honda advertisement. And it is included. I also need to sell my old Honda Civic before I get the new one. I was hoping to place an add on OZHONDA but my account is just new and I believe I have to wait 90 days and also receive a trade rating too.
