Hey guys just need some quick info and input.
Just got my car lowered a couple of week ago costing me $500.
The car itself is not too low and guard just go over rim as you would expect.
I put a lip on last week and nearly snapped the thing going on a 45 degree angle up my driveway which i measured to only have 3.5cm clearance with out lip once i took it off.
Ive seen alot of civics with lips and just wondering would this be the normal case?
My car is not even that low so Im thinking of raising front by 1 inch or so is the only way.
Can this be done for front only? And how would it look?
Should I just go for all round raise?
your input would be greatly appreciated

RAISE :) hehe. practicalty y0!~
tell us about your suspension. what are you running? sounds like springs only? if thats the case, then rasiing your car will be more $$$ - will need new springs. If coilovers, i'm sur you know the proceduce ;)
I would recommend an all round raise for the sake of - driving ppl around, maintaining original balance/weight transfer.

^ Dont listen to him. He is part of the 4wd club :p. Best bet is to keep it practical. Once you get to low it makes everything a pain.

Car is lowered on Kmac springs on stadard shocks.
Eventually shocks need to get changed so maybe leaning towards saving up for coilovers huh instead of spending another $400 or so on springs
Driving a low car is a pain and doest help when your neighbourhood is surrounded by speed humps and driveway angle is 45 degrees

Weigh up the differences:
Would you rather keep the front lip but have the car a bit higher (and softer)
or
Lose the lip and have the car in the weeds???

How low do the Kmacs drop the car? 35mm clearance is very little, that's like 3 fingers width! I struggle to get out of the civic at stock height let alone lowered.
Could always try wreckers or for sale section for some cheap secondhand springs to raise the car temporarily while you save for coilovers. You could also try to palm off your Kmacs to a mate to kick start your saving ;)

35mm is the clearance when i just hit my driveway.
I think Im just gon keep these for the mean time unless anyone wan swap springs? hehe:D
whats airbag suspension BTW?
Lucky lip is that rubbery pu stufff and bends like crazy so didnt snap.
How much do you think I can get for my Kmacs with just 200kms? lol

second hand springs - $200 tops probably. its so cheap buying brand new anyway.
just keep as is, drive carefully and get coilovers when u save enough. might be worth while actually getting coilovers now, so u can also save your stock shocks.

maybe u need to learn new ways to approach ur drive way?
blazin206
03-02-2007, 03:41 AM
its not the approach.... no matter what angle you take it my lip is burried in gutter by say 1-2 cms.
not possible unless i have hydraulics or sumthing:D

You have any photos of your car and if possible your driveway? Its great to have a lowered car but whats the use if your baby gets smashed and beaten to hell and back not to mention can't get home safe and dry? :) Thats my logic on the topic hehe

Pics wont determine nothing as Ive already measured my car at lowest point and if my lip was on garunteee it will snap if I approach it. Going sideways or even reversing.
Saw Pchio today with his lip on bloody made me jealous hehehe.
Would anyone know how much a decent set of adjustable coilovers would cost ?
Not top of the market but something that will handle everyday driving.
2nd hand is even an option i guess.

you can get brand new ones, entry brands such as D2s or megan racing (not sure about your model tho), for around $1300 delivered.

Will changing my rim size make any differences?

if you've lowered it, larger rim size may cause scrubbing in the guard...
save up for coilovers, it makes problems like this alot easier...
its too bad though you have to go without your lip... car always feels bare when it hasn't got its lip on.... lol

i've managed to get off my drive way without hitting my front lip .. i use to hit the lip n the chassis at the front all the time.
i do a full lock getting off my drive way .. to get onto my drive way i approach at it a 10-20 degree angle lol

here you go as looking from driveway not too high but it is uneven which makes my hotdog and also my muffler tip scrape.
The lip will just clear the lil rise of driveway but the next part wheres seems to be lil rocks and cracks everywhere lip digs in and if I acclerated it would've bent my lip for sure.
if you've lowered it, larger rim size may cause scrubbing in the guard...
car will not scrape as previous owner had 18s and had guards rolled.
Theres just too many theories as some ppl say it will raise car and some ppl say it doesnt. Can anyone please clarify this for me?
thanks

Okay, if you fit 18s, it will be raised but the problem with big ass rims are the scrubbing, but if the previous owner rolled the guards out, then its fine :)

maybe just get fatter tyres. like my mates got 195/50/15 and got king lows, ive got 195/55/15 and got super lows and we are about the same height. so maybe get a fatter profile

Except then your speedo will be out. Can't you fashion some kind of minature ramp, if the problem area is the cracks/bumps?

Raise it. Cars that are too low look ridiculous. Nothing more crude than badly lowered car.

OI, if chicks can deal with wearing uncomfartable high heels to look good, i think u can deal with a little scraping or modifying ur drivaway for ur car to look good. High cars look gay. Even cabbies with 3 fat ppl in the back look sick ;)
just let it scrape until its worned out and scrape no more ;)
hahahahah jk
how low is ur car from stock ?
maybe its just the angle of the picture but from what i can see it looks doable hehe.
i wish my driveway looked like that, id go even lower..
blazin206
06-02-2007, 01:35 AM
Its not doable with my lip on.
My mates lowered ITR cant even clear my driveway and with my lip on my car it will be alot lower than his.
Going to get quotes on Saturday see how much itll cost to raise car half and inch or so.
So i might be having a near brand new pair of Kmacs only done 200kms max up for sale soon.
If you or you know anyone interested please pm me so I can weigh up my options.
thanks.
