Hey guys just quick question -did search but couldnt find this info believe it or not

Would the ek9 front swaybar bolt straight onto my Ek1 hatch or is there any fiddling around required?

Also whiteline has front swaybar that is 27mm thick which one would you go for? the CTR front is 26mm from what I read

Thanks

Is it because ek9/whiteline swaybar causes too much understeer?

make sure your front LCA's on the ek1 have holes in them to fit the endlinks for ek9 sway. ek9 sway is 26mm. same as EK4. always thought EM1 front sway was 24mm. but yeh.. make sure you have the holes in it :D

Thanks guys

The front lca has holes as the ek1 comes with 22mm front sway unless the holes needs to be on a different spot?

subframe tearout is not an realistic issue with FRONT
swaybars :) No "kit" as such is needed. It simply bolts on.
The placement is far superior compared to the EG/DC/EK rear swaybar ~ with such a great force pushing directly up into the reinforcement rather than chassis its only a matter of time IMO.

another option is a used CRV front sway bar. 26mm bolt on.... I'm pretty sure.

ask at Honbits, and you'll be able to compare with a regular sway bar.

Also, budget for a rear sway bar and subframe or you won't get any handling benefits.

if the CRV fits.. it would be worth about 5% of what u pay for an ek9 one

make your money work for you ;)

Hey guys, I ended up getting EK9 F&R sways and fitted perfectly , I even used original endlinks for the front

Didnt mean to ignore advices about the em1 bars but I rarely have time to go out to wreckers :(

Hey guys, with my ek1, I don't think I have the holes for a front sway (my car did not come with a front sway bar). Just wanted to ask if I can fit in eg6 LCAS so I can use the integra type r sway? Only reason I ask is I can get these parts for cheap. Any advise will be appreciated.

I can definitely say that my ek cxi has no front swaybar. I think ben la (benjammin) can vouch for this. That's why if I was to ever fit on a front sway bar, I will have to get a installation kit + the actual sway bar (from whiteline). The only other option I was told of was to change my lcas to ones which can have a sway bar fitted to it.

So can I fit eg6 lcas on my ek1? If not, does anyone know that part number for the fitting kit from whiteline (since I looked on the website and can't really determine which of the parts I actually need).

yeah cxi's dont come with a front sway bar but
gli's = 22mm fsb
vti-r's = 26mm fsb

spacepants, you can also maybe try vtir or gli front lca, I thought gli and cxi was the same apart from the power options and tacho

Blitz yes, both are installed- got the bars +beaks kit from jdm concept and got them for less than mpr or whiteline sways so i went ahead - leo is a champion to deal with- cant go wrong with honda genuine parts :)

For the front unless its a CXI, no need to change the lower control arm to fit the EK4/9 sway bar. Its plug and play. All you need is the sway bar and the bushing.

For the rear, depends what size sway bar you want to run. 16mm (EK4) or 22mm (EK9).

Front or rear EK4 sway bar????

If front, no need reinforcement.

If rear, have a look under your car at where the lower control arm bolts to the subframe. 'Above' the lower control arm subframe bolt should be 2 holes for where the sway bar mounts. Have a look behind those holes if there is a plate welded on with 2 bolt threads. If its there, then no reinforcement needed.

On all EK's there is 2 holes in place for the mounting plate for the swaybar.
On EK4's or EM1's there is welded nuts on the back , and on all other EK's/EJ8's you need 4 x nuts to hold the mounting plate to the subframe.(where the welded nuts would be)

Thanks bennjamin.

If thats the case, may I suggest a Beaks reinforcement kit from JDM Concept (just to be on the safe side).

On the EK4, the welded nuts are attached to a plate. This plate in turn is attached to the sub-frame, and I believe this strengthens the sub-frame for mounting the sway bar.
