lol.
other than that, same shit.

6 speed works the same way as a 5 speed, except that it has 6 gears. The reverse gear is in a different position.
The Celica NEEDS the 6-speed as there is little torque below 6000rpm.

might aswell just buy a DC5R lol

They are 2 totally different cars. Once's a track-orientated car, while the other is more of a cruiser with a personality disorder.

yeah 6 speed the gears are shorter then 5 speed.. i prefer 5 speed

6 speed Manual,give u a wider range,cos they got different gear ratio
for corner wise, same corner,5 speed corner use 2nd gear and 6 speed may able to use 3rd to go in at same speed, more rpm range to rev after the apex.
I prefer 6 speed myself

i think what people are trying to say is that 6 speed has a different gear ratios.

if i had the choice id have a 6 speed.... like mentioned above, more ratios mean more of a chance to hold your car in powerband and be able to pull out of a corner without losing speed shifting gears

I would go to 6 speed, but as we know we get used to 5 speed :P, i drove frenz euro 6mt and always forgot there was a 6th gear waiting ROFL!! may be not familiar yet to that configuration.
For drag reason, less gear is better then more gear. reduce shifting times :p

You'll be able to keep on power band with 6th speed but the downside is the gears will not be strong as 5th speed but who cares, just take care of it
Anyway for the zzt231 celica, the low end torque will be better than dc2r but after the cam crossover, dc2r would be able to pull out more max power since the stock 2zzge engine is not too aggresstive and it starts to produce power after 6000rpm so you may consider to do some engine mods like 3zzge which is 2zzge head + 1zzfe block (3zz trail kit) like ppl doing b20 and k24 hybrid. It could able to pull out 240ps on engine instead of 190ps stock
It is a really fun car to drive, start with IHE and alignments 1st and go to www.newcelica.org (http://www.newcelica.org), you may find lots of useful info

Gearbox reliability is not based on the number of gears that you have, but on how the box is built.

The b18c7 has more torque below 6000rpm than a 2zz-ge.
BTW, what are you smoking? A 2zz-ge head does not fit onto a 1zz-fe block because the bore diameters are different!!! The trial 3zz is a 2zz stroker kit with higher compression. And WTF are you on about a b20-k24 hybrid? Please, put down that joint..... :thumbdwn:

Ive compared the 6MT euro with a 5AT euro, engine performance was quicker and more responsive with the 6MT, and you dont need to rev it as high as the 5speed when driving normally, which is better for the engine in the long run and more fuel efficient.
6MT 0-100km/h is ideal. 1st gear goes to 50km/h and 2nd gear hits 100km/h. So u dont need to use 3rd gear and get affected by change-gear time. Although the Celica's ratios are different, not sure if 2nd can reach 100km. But most roads are 90km or less anyway so it doesnt really matter.

Fcukin off topic shit left right and centre in this thread.
Drivability wise, its near identical to a 5 spd.
As someone has mentioned, reverse is in a difference spot.
Majority of 5 spd manuals have reverse down the bottom right,
In the celica, you'll need to jam it far left first, then up.
Jst drive it like you would a normal 5 spd car,
You rarely use gear 6 in the city anyway.
The only time u'd use 6 is on the highway to cruise.

Hmm, the 5AT actually has longer ratios than the 6MT, and the revs are lower at the same speed.

Yep but my point is with 6MT u can use a higher gear at lower revs

Man i drove my friends 2000 model celica and boy is it annoying. I prefer the 5speed over the 6 speed, maybe his car was newer i dont know but the shifting felt alot heavier and slow compared to my 5speed ek. Plus when you put it in reverse gear it makes beeping noises like a truck.

^ He probably had reverse sensors installed. U can get them on eBay for $50+

Nope, cars with the 2zz-ge and the 6 speed gearbox have a beep in reverse. The Sportivo has it too. Not sure if the Elise 111R has that as well though..

Check out the "BUILT" quality of the celica and s15 gearbox, i don't mean it's about how many gears but i don't think there are much 6 speed gearbox could handle extreme conditions since each gear need to handle more stress then 5 speed in the same situation
I may be wrong the the trail 3zz but i am so sure that it's not a 2zz stroker kit, do you mean Ing-ing 2 litre stroker kit for celica? Anyway i smoke oxygen

b18c7 produce about 150iNm before vtec and 2zz(on celica, not corolla) produce about 165iNm before vvtl-i. Same dyno too and they both have I + E mods only

I mean B20 and K24
B16+B20 and K20+K24, 2 engines
Hope you had fun and now it's time to go back on topic

spoondc2, with all due respect, none of ur posts relate to the topic of this thread - which is, who has driven a 6spd b4, and is it the same as a 5spd?
Stick to topic!

i drive a 6sped zzt celica.
and i have driven a 5speed integra vtir.
also for bonus i also driven a dc5s
6 and 5 speed i notice while everyday driving only diffrence is.. 5th gear. on 60km/h im on 4th gear in the vti-r and in the celica im in 5th, and pretty much anything above that im in 6th or 5th. besides that i don't notice anything major.
the type s and celica i drove them pretty much the same no diffrence.
all celica's and sportivos have the beeping reverse, because reverse is next to first, and trust me it comes in handy for the noobs.
i rather the type s reverse but, it wont go into reverse unless your at a complete stop, when i was driving the type S i was scared to put it into 6th, but my mate told me it dosent go in reverse unless stopped.
and the celica dosent have better low end torque, biggest weakness in a celica is getting off the line, it sucks after that everything is all good.

LOL, why does each gear need to handle more stress than a 5 speed? :p
3zz is a stroker kit with 13.x:1 compression. They use a 1zz crank in the 2zz with other aftermarket internals. http://www.trial.co.jp/trial-usa/celica/3zz.htm
*smokes oxygen* Now, back to on-topic.
