aftermarket man... seeing as your going to change the cams either way, u might aswell get ones better then type R cams as your going thru the hassle already..

well arguably TODA would have to be the best, but it realyl depends on how much u want to spend... and bare in mind with most cams, u need to change other things to accomodate the cams. ie valve springs etc.

depends what sort of drive u're after..

what will you be using it for ?
will you be going turbo later down the track ?

its the tuning involved aswell in order to make the most of the cams.
If goin aftermarket, u might aswell invest in a aftermarket ECU.

have u ever had a look at the toda and the skunk2 cam gears?? the toda 1 has 4 bolts holding the piecis together, while the skunk2 has 6 bolts....and the skunk2 is still lighter than the toda 1

maybe u should have a closer look b4 u say toda is arguably to be the best...coz there are alot of brands out there to look at

i'm sure some1 can suport me on this

depends on your desired power and how u want it delivered, how far you will be modding your engine/ecu and of course your budget

That's because skunk2 uses thinner material for their cam gears. Is thinner better though?

well most aftermarket cams are better then type r one. depending on the brand and price. its obvious if u go buy soemthign cheep then it wont be as good as something thats expensive and popular. it depends.. cause theres differnt kind of camshafts to suit the purpose ur after. but the fairly popular brands like Toda, BuddyClub, Skunk2 etc ...

depends wat ur gonna use it for...but in some cases thinner can be stronger...not saying in most cases that thinner things are always stronger...u just gotta see wat its made from, and how its constructed...and also wat it is used for...but yeah, not saying toda is bad and skunk2 is better....i'm just saying to compare different products and keep options open to wat you'll be using the product for

well i certainly wouldnt spend money on cheaply manufacture branded cam gear .. wouldnt want it to break .. would be a head ache.

then ctr cams would generally be a good option

if u want the most out of the cams u will need to buy an aftermarket computer .. even the piggy back computers will do. ie. apexi vafcII , haltec, hondata, microtech etc.

IF you have a B16A, your b16a cams will make more power then type r cams when tuned. You can always just buy spec A cams as a drop in.

aftermarket you have to make sure its for the internals you're running.....(stock , upgraded, etc..)check with the manufacturer....
if you run ctr cams...and to make the difference you are looking for, the block should be bored .25 over (from stock b16a1 specs) and ctr pistons installed.....and don't forget about "valve float" its a higher rev cam, and stock ctr valvetrain components should be used.....there is a lot of things to consider.....ecu re-pro, porting, phasing the cams, etc.,.... but IMO honda factory stuff is bombproof, if used with the other quality components/ installed correctly with all specs lining up........"it ain't funny messi'n with time and money...".....do it right once versus 10 times the wrong way.....
here's a good u.s. site that has a LOT of tech/ specs and some great write-ups:

i recently installed my crower cams and all up it cost around 3k inc install...which included the crower cams, retainer set, cam gears, install, new timing belt, dialled in cams etc.

now i have to buy an aftermarket standalone ECU which could be up to 2k...

Whats the difference between the Toda A2 & A3 cams?
A2 has less lift more duration - suitable for use with STD ECU
A3 has more lift, slightly less duration - cannot be used with STD ECU
A3 is a great performing street performance cam. Great idle, good ecommomy with explosive top end.
