View Full Version : [Euro] Sound system installed (UPDATED)
UPDATE
After the AirRunner installation, i need to modify the amps in order to fit the Air Runner tank in the boot. Below is the pictures of the updated layout.

I just got my car few days ago after 2.5 days of sound system installation. The concept is i want the boot simple but looks neat. The glass on the boot is made from the glass for windscreen so it's thick & solid. At first i'm thinking to cover the boot using black vinyl/suede but i still need the boot to carry things so i keep it like the original until i get a second car. Now i'm just waiting from indo (cause it's cheaper) for the alpine/pioneer double din media manager with TV to replace the current head unit & headrest monitor.
Parts details:
- Alpine head unit CDA-9813.
- Alpine speakers DDLinear DLX-176.
- Alpine speakers Type-S SPS-690A.
- 2x Alpine subwoofer Type-R 12" SWR-1242D.
- Alpine 4/3/2 channel V12 amp MRV-F430.
- Alpine monoblock V12 amp MRD-M500.
- Custom boot with glass & blue LED.
- Optima battery yellow top D34.
Thanks to:
- GL Pro Sound (www.glprosound.com.au (http://www.glprosound.com.au)) for the installation.
- ahcash for all of the parts.
- aaronng for installing the optima battery.
- EuroAccord13 for his garage & tools.

spare tyre gone?
atjo - you forgot the most important thing - how does it sound to you!? Otherwise looks great.
At first there's a problem with the mono amp doesn't give the power that it should be so the subs are not balance with the speakers but the problem is solved now after my friend play around with the head unit & it sounds great now.
looks nice  but does the Amp rack got any ventillation or Fan ? otherwise its gonna get very hot
There's a small ventillation for the air, how many degrees is still acceptable for the amp?
niceeee!
spare tyre gone?
Yes, but i can remove the amps & put back the spare tyre easily.

Nice System :P
Total Cost?
Also, looking at your Optima.. Should you not have more than a single 4g coming from your - terminal to your chassis? That seems some-what.. under-estimated.

GL Pro Sound is the one who installed it. I can't say the price of the parts cause they came from my friend's euro, so it's not brand new. If brand new the cost can be >$3500 for the parts only based on the spec above. Other than that the optima battery cost me $300, the facia $60 & $1600 for the installation.

Ah right, still looks awesome though mate.
Are you happy with the sound quality as well as the installation quality?
Ah right, still looks awesome though mate.
Are you happy with the sound quality as well as the installation quality?
Yes, mostly because the front speakers is the top of the range speakers from alpine so the quality is great.

Hey Atjo nice setup mate:thumbsup:
You're saying the facia for the headunit only cost $60. Can I ask where you got it from ?
Cheers

The faceplate can be sourced from Stinger for around that price. Maybe atjo is using a different make.
I'm using stinger and i bought it at JB-Hifi. Just bargain the price :)
Thanks for the reply... by faceplate.. we are all talking about the replacement part under the factory display that replaces the storage bin and allows you to use a DIN size headunit ?
Sorry for the dumb question, but i dont want to get my hope up that it only costs $60 because ive seen them on ebay for $150.

06-02-2007, 02:21 PM
theres definately cheaper then on ebay, fhrx studios sell them for under $80 im pretty sure and there the stinger sourced items, As mentioned jb hifi could order them in.
Install looks great, price sounds good to!
Gives me a few more ideas :)
Any troubles with the front speakers and fitment?, the holes in the door are a pain in the A$$ to fit speakers with big magnets in! not sure what the magnets are like on the DD linears so it may have been fine.
Ahh well for $60 thats a bargain... what am i messing around with line converters for ?? LOL
I think DDLinear speakers is smaller than the other alpine speakers cause my friend gave me ring to support the speakers. Everything is straight forward for the fitment. For the faceplate, it comes with a connector as well.

06-02-2007, 02:34 PM
yea i found the faceplate really easy to fit, the adapter is great, certainly helps if one day you want to sell the car to! :)
Thanks guys, you made my day. I just rang JB and they told me it was $90 though... did you guys have to bargain ?
And yeah I agree with pumped.. it should make it easy to return it to stock and take the headunit out when it comes time to sell.
I'll finish off my install using the LOC and spend a bit of time playing around with it.. but a nice Alpine H/U is looking very tempting :)
Just tell them that your friend just bought it for $60.

lol i cant get over how tiny the magnet on the stock speakers is! they sound ok considering!
Well the good thing is that it doesnt take much power to get them moving... but yeah they weigh next to nothing. The magnets about the size of a 20cent coin hahahha.

I'm not sure about the watts, i'm trying to record the max db if i have time to do it. If i put it to the max the bass & subs controller, it make the body of the car vibrate.

Hey Kiwi, you havent tell me how to but the LOC yet.... [:D]
Anyway where are you at? I am interested to get the face plate too...
Hey Tron,
Long story... I havent got my install finished yet and it wont be completed until next Wednesday. I'm planning on entering a few comps so if I'm not 100% happy with the LOC ill be buying an Alpine HU and a face plate. If I do go this way then I'll have a Navone LOC going pretty cheap if your interested.
I'll get back to you on how it turns out.. fingers crossed that it sounds great :)

i had stockers of stock HU. sounds alright. then i changed to aftermarket speakers, even better! bass was more punchy, treble was more crisp. then i changed to an aftermarket HU - second hand alpine, the sound difference was nuclear. BANG! Its amazing what aftermarket HUs can do to your speakers.

I heard in DB competitions, you dont test with music, you test with bass. so the car with teh loudest bass will win.
yes, it's DB Drag Racing but i'm affraid to do it cause i went to a competition mid last year and one of the car had the amps blew off.

That sucks... You are not testing the loudness of the sound system then. Just have to make a wooden box with a huge 20" sub and an amp powerful enough to drive it (but doesn't need fidelity). Instant win. :thumbdwn:
Dont do what ? I think you'd be hard pressed to kill those subs with the Alpine amps. And I'm assuming that you arent running the amps at crazy low impendences so theres very little chance of damage to them.
An in a sedan like the Euro with a sealed box, you're not going to be too competitive on the SPL scene... id say maybe mid-high 130's ? I doubt this was the intention of the install anyway.
Edit : Aaron, I'm not a huge fan of DB but theres more to it than that.. its like saying just put a V8 in a Euro and you'll win Bathurst.. umm doesnt quite work like that :D
heya dan!!
great work!!!wow!!! i cant wait to see u next time !!! hahaha!!!
i gotta see it i gotta see it in real life yo!:D:D

nice one... i thought u will put the car in audio fx... how's the sound?
They quoted me almost the same as GL Pro but it didn't include the neon & glass (they use perspex instead of windscreen glass). Also they needed 2 weeks to do my car because they're doing someone else's car at the moment. The sound is good & they asked me to come again in 3 weeks time to see how's the tuning going.
