Bling aside.

What are the optimal rims to run on a DC2?

For traction, lightweight, handling, strength and most importantly, best tyres to run?

Obviously we'll only be looking at Rays, Works, 5zigen, Buddy Club etc.

16" and forged?

Whats the lightest 16" Forged wheel available for a DC2? Or are they all the same at roughly 11lbs?

Thanks

you dont wanna go too big 16's are a good size the bigger the rim the heavier it will weigh generally and it depends on what type of racing (im assuming yopu will be racing) you will be competeting in.

Just street and once every couple months track.

What I want to know is, how much lighter/heavier is a 16" rim with thicker wall, than a 17" rim and a thinner wall?

If a 17" rim is 15lbs, and 16" is 12, is it still worth getting the 17's? ie. Buddyclub P1's.

i'd get 15inch rims for DC4, and make sure you get 15x7, the extra 0.5 is definitly worth it. e.g. BC QF

CE28 :D:D:D if you can afford these beauties
lightest hottest and soooo JDM!!!!
i got a mate selling SSR Type C's 16x7 +42 offset to fit 114.3x5
pm me if interested:)

iv heard 16" is the size to go for. you don't want to go 17" as you said with thinner sidewall especially for tracking!!!! thin sidewalls equals poorer grip.

otherwise goodluck with the hunt.

id go for what you can afford...

if ur rich and can afford everything then id go 16 inch with semi slick tyres

id get advan rg 16s with a048 semi slick tyres.

but u said ur going to use on street as well.. so id prob go the standard rims with re55s using 205.50 r15

I'm currently leaning towards 16" BC P1's in White.

I can't decide what size I want though...What IS the optimal size?

Stock DC2 = 15lbs
15" = 10.2lbs
16" = 11.1lbs
17" = 14.7lbs

if u want looks...17"...if u want performance+looks 16"... if u only want performance 15"....

What would the 1/4 mile difference between between 15 and 17?

For exact same rim (just diff size), driver and launch etc.

i m not too sure coz i don't really like those drags...but i believe u'd get a better launch with 15" but then 17" can help u travel further distance on each gear so helped me get better times in the end....thats how i feel when i do circuit tracking....

i have to dissagre with that statement regarding 17 helping you travel further. that would only be the case if you increased your profile, but generally when you increase wheel size you decrease your profile. this sould leave you with the same rolling diameter.

i was only guess...but if u r comparing 17" and 15"...depending on the tyres...there are still gonna be difference...

yeah the gearing will only be changed if the profile of the tyres is smaller on the 15 inch ..

15 would be best for straight line, simply coz of weight and diameter of the rim.

16's for a dc2 is best for track apparently, according to track experts. don't ask me why, they just said they got faster times with 16's.
edit: oh btw, thats with a 205 tyre.

and 17's... well they would look cool :) , maybe go orite in corners with the low profile tyres.

One tip about 16's. If you're picky about the tyre, you'll have a hard time getting tyres that fit.

Note: most 205/45/16's are the incorrect load rating. That is. 83W. DC2R's require 86W (sticker on the chassis)

Only 215/45/16 has that load rating.

Based on tyre choice - Optimal set up -> 15's on Stock

17's if you have a ATS Final Drive (because you won't notice the difference if you have one :)

The above applies to semi-slicks as well.

euGeR, thanks, thats exactly what I want to know!!!!!

In 16".

What are my best option for performance tyres?

Is there a wide array of choices in 205/45/16 ??
