i was surprised when i went to indonesia. the prices of cars are really expensive and i think it is set by the demands. here believe it or not crv is cheaper than a honda civic which is around 320.000.000 or aus $42000 and also the cost of honda odssy is very very expensive, approximately rp 500.000.000 or aus $70000. i just think that these prices are crazy.

You can't compare the two markets like apples and apples. They have different taxes, import duties, etc.

It's pretty much the same deal in Malaysia too. All imported cars are expensive...

For example, CRV would cost around 60k+(AU) whereas their locally made cars; Protons would be selling for much more affordable prices. This is to protect their own market and pretty much make people pay higher prices for a car which isn't locally made.

Which is lucky, because if locally made ones where the same price who would ever buy a proton lol.

hell yeah..
don't compare the price in aus and indonesia..
so that's why honda dealer owners are rich.
coz they got a lot of profits.

Try Singapore... A Civic can get you a Legend here..

In Malaysia, the import tax for car is........ Wait for it.....is like in excess of 300%.. This is done to protect the local (Proton) market which is why Malaysia wants to extend the FTA agreement date to a later time because when FTA kicks in, a Honda Civic will be a better buy than a Proton..

I was looking at the 2006 Euro R in Singapore recently. Almost fainted when I was told it was only $110k Singapore (about $90k AUD).

That's pricey compared to the Mazda 6 which was going for $65k :/

And plus the permit costs ~$30k

permit cost?

Yup, you need to apply for a permit to own a car in Singapore, I forgot what the actual name of the document is but it's pretty heft depending on which car you get.

I think it was around 25k if you want to buy a Mazda sedan.

yes SP33 we did. This is the business.

BTW, currently price of Audi Q7 4.2 in China is around 1.28M RMB or 230K AUD, still double price compare with AU.

but I thought the heater is a very simple mechanic? Which just let the coolant flow thru the system? Wouldn't it more expensive to exclude it?
