Also guess the vtec point in the video and win a Hondata Intake gasket for the Euro.

Pretty loud intake don't you think?

I will keep the Icebox if I go for this - don't want that sort of induction noise at 4000rpm.

hehe yea it is, i like it though - with a more agressive tune and a lower vtec point even the icebox should get a fair bit louder

peekay34, are you running a dc5 VTC mechanism?

True true but it will be quieter than a pod filter set up

yep no doubt about that

airbox type intakes are underrated

Looks the goods but im offloading my euro in 2 weeks to get the new CRV. That is unless i can be convinced otherwise. depends on bang for buck i guess...

Wow, the engine is able to pull from 1500rpm in 4th gear without lugging (granted it is on a dyno though)

The video looks good, however I'm a little concerned that there isn't a single indication of price range. Are we talking about a $2000 setup or a $7000 setup?

There have been estimated prices in the previous Hondata threads. Look that up.

I think it's approx.$450 for CAI,$1100 for headers,$1800 for ex.$1000 for reflash.

^those prices sound reasonable.. and I'm assuming the $1800 includes a cat?

Those numbers are a little off what I was told just a few weeks ago:

$1850 for the 4 muffler exhaust including the high flow cat (which can be purchased seperately for $450).
Headers will be $1200
intake $450
Reflash will be $1000.There may be some opening specials for the group order -perhaps 10%.

Well they definitely aren't cheap but if the gains are as good as suggested i think the price sounds about right.

I'm just hoping for a standalone ecu or maybe a flash that makes use of the dc5r vtc mechanism

Mate I thought it would be loud as well. But to be honest it is not much louder than the icebox. Remember the video you see is in an enclosed room.
The car is much more reponsive with this intake compared to the Icebox...

Yes I am but James has only programed the ecu to open up the cam angle 25degrees the same as the Euro. But it is possible to open the cam angle more....talk to James.

ok, but on your car its using 40 degrees+ ? I'd really love to know what sort of difference it makes if you are.

I'm sure ill get a chance to pick his brain in the future maybe when hes not so busy...

I'll wait to see the dyno charts I think. I imagine many people will be in the same position as me - trying to work out whether to blow a stack of cash on stage 4 with all the bolt ons or just buy stage 2 and then use whatever aftermarket parts they like (read less inexpensive bolt ons). The difference in approaches is potentially close to $2000 if I go with cheaper alternative single exhaust, high flow cat and copy ss headers. Of course the results will not be as good - but if I can hopefully get close to 75% of the improvement that stage 4 provides and save $2g - that is pretty good bang for buck in my view. Crazy logic maybe but that is what I am thinking at the moment. Waiting to read all the detail....

No it is using the same cam angle as the euro as standard.

^ ok thanks for that

Youll have to let us know how it goes if you end up utilising it in the future

I don't think you can use full 40 deg.cam angle unless you use fit fully tunable ECU(Hondata k100).Is that right Peekay34?

That is correct
