Has anyone had bearing problems in their D16 dizzy's? Mine has just started making alot of bearing noise, Honda quoted me $1000 for a whole new dizzy as you cant just buy the bearings! typical.. I have hunted around wreckers and can get another second hand one for around $300 Any help appreciated.

the bearing is a weird size that honda has a paitent for

Iv only read that you can find them from bearing places. not sure how true it is

My EG Civic's dizzy was never noisy lasting 250,000km, although it did need a new Dizzy Cap and Coil.
$1000 is highway robbery for such a relatively simple device. But thats how honda make money after all - sell the car cheap and charge a lot for parts.

A second hand one may also have problems. A reconditioned one is a better buy imo, you may even get warranty on it.

If honda has gone to so much trouble to stop people fixing the problem on the cheap I doubt if you could get them reco'd, especially if they have a honda special bearing in them?? Ive heard of other ppl having a similar bearing problem although the cars were the same vintage accords.

Cheers ECU-MAN. I think I will try my luck with a second hand item.

just depends on your luck like you said
like eurodude's eg you may get a 2nd hand dizzy that'll last forever or you may get a dud that'll see you out another 5000 k's
shop around for bearings while your at it
