Hey guys,
Recently ive noticed that the ride in my EK1 sedan is horrible, its so uncomfortable i don't even now how to describe it,
take it overf a bumpy road and u feel everything, all the shocks and bumps, its like as if there is nothing to absorb the shock from teh roads
esp parramatta rd, hume highway, its terrible
further more, take it over any bump and the suspension squeek's, and one last thing, any left hand turn, taken anything faster tahn 15 km/h, it'll just scrub deeply against the guards, this isn't a problem with the rims as it has only recetnly developed...
some friends of mine have suggested taht the shocks need replacing,
so i have been able to source a set EK9 shocks, does anyone think they'll be a go go for the EK1 sedan? or should i just save up and go for decent coilovers?

Hi
Im very certain that it is your shocks needs replacing, if it feels really really bad like jelly then you may have more than 1 shock leaking
I had 3 shocks died on me and the car felt pretty much like it had no shocks
As for the replacement if you are happy with the oem shocks you can get other decent brands, I got pedders when I replaced mine and feels as good as stock costed me $600 fitted for all 4
But coilovers is good if you want to improve the cars handling

I thought that the shocks on the car were dead,
as far as that goes, what do you think of EK9 shocks? somehwere around 300 for them,, and i'll probably say another 50-60 to get them fitted?
Do you think its worth my money?
and to add to the list of my worries, i got a leaking exhaust,so i suppose a nice twin loop should be great,
but i am getting a 2.5" trust cat back for free, just that no muffler as it needs an angled cannon, any suggestions people?

Is it 300 for all 4? if it is then I guess its pretty good...is it used?
As for your exhaust cant go wrong with freebies :P

its around 300 for all 4, so i suppose it'll be good to use, albeit the fact that i'll probbaly have to get new springs..
as with the exhaust, its a direct bolt on from cat, 2.5" but i'll need a cannon (not a fan as they are loud as f*ck, but he told me with his trust set up, he had 2 resonators and it was really "soft")
lol, i'll see how it goes, otherwise it'll be twinloop for me or an edelbrock i suppose
i mean, even stock shocks would be good for me, a much cheaper option...
go for stock? or ek9's?

I dont know what ek9 shocks is like but if the stock shocks is good enough for you and is cheaper may as well go stock :)
is it just a stock motor? if it is den running a 2.5" exhuast is gonna drive like shit is traffic or just going a round .. not enuff back pressure for a stockish d-series

dont buy 2nd hand shocks...
just buy a set of new monroe or something that come with warranty..+ you can go 30mm and your still covered
if your cars lower then standard then oem shocks wont be any good for you anyway...

why the no go with 2nd hand shocks?
and yes, my car is lower than standard, but i never really had problem with the shocks beforehand, i mean, i can for EK9 shocks or maybe some tokico blues
and with the 2.5" cat back, it is a freebie, so if its not gonna be any good for myself, then im sure someone else will do well with it.

With second hand shocks, if you put on springs of different height to what those 2nd hand shocks used to have on - you can damage the seals causing leak which is what u most likely have now
That is what happened to mine anyway, I lowered the car with springs only and stock shocks, and after a while all 3 shocks died-cant be coincidence if 3 of em went out :)
But if shocks are brand new u should be fine with the lowered springs, my pedders are still perfect since I got it about 4 yrs ago...

You have sourced out a set of EK9 stock shocks, I assume it'll be At least 6-7 Years old. I know it's cheap and all but when you think about it, you'll prob have to re-replace them in like a years time, that's if you're lucky!
Go with New shocks man. And like what others say, if it's lowered, stock shock will do you no good. Either Coilover or aftermarket shocks like Tokico or KYB.
Just my 2 cents.
