not really honda related, but im going to ask it anyways,

after helping a friend service his camry i noticed that the brake fluid was soy sauce colour, which is what mine was when i realised i needed a new master cylinder, so my question is: is there any oem fluid which is naturally this colour, or does the fact that its soy coloured mean it is dead?

thanks for the reply, im more worried about whether he needs a new/rebuilt master cylinder, try flushing the fluid first i guess

sounds like it needs to be changed...maybe get a tissue and put in the reservior and see if any particles r on the tissue...depends on when it was last changed or serviced..now days brake fluid comes in all types of colours..ive seen brakefluid in green.

Use a turkey baster and suck out as much fluid from the resevoir as possible, and then add new fluid before you start flushing the brake lines. Otherwise you'll get the dirt particles into your master cylinder and ruin it.

old oem brake fluid was a nice light orange/yellow colour

not long ago i has been changed to a dark yellow/orange colour. its funny coz the new colour looks like the old colur when it was in a car to long :)

Hmm, the bottle of brake fluid that I have (bought in 2006) has a light yellow colour when it is poured out.

After spending two days on a stuffed up holden caliper, having brake fluid enter an open wound on my palm, and having my skin shrivelled up like an old granny's, the smell of brake fluid makes me throw up a bit in the back of my throat.

Changing brake fluid is a con... You never have to change it... ever...

Honda is even now re-selling that so called 'old' fluid that they took out of your car 3 years ago; just as proof...

Generally, freeeeesh oil has a light tangy golden/yellow/orange/red colour...

Dark soy sauce brake fluid is better than (Think American Pie Semen in beer scene) brake fluid.. that is even worse!
