Hi all,

just got a question regarding ecu tuning.

I have had my intake and exhaust system done. Im pretty happy with it (but i wish my power band was earlier).

anyways question being do i need to get the ecu retuned to be suitable with the new intake and exhaust? i have heard that having this done to work with a new setup can be very beneficial.

also if this is the case, would this mean i would need an aftermarket ecu ,like hondata?

thanks
James

Quickest, easiest, and cheapest (free!) way is to do an ECU reset.

Here's a DIY.

It's basically just resetting your stock ECU so that it can easily and quickly adjust to your mods.

You could go with something like Hondata... or you could go with something like Uberdata or Crome which are more DIY type solutions

Apexi VAFC doesn't really do all that much to be quiet honest...
Plus going with a chipped ECU that will set you up for more serious modification like cams etc etc

Either way you will have to pay someone to tune it; be it dyno or road tune, depending if you track it or daily

Bugger...none of those images are working anymore.

Tuning can give some gains, it depends on where the car is at now...
Fact is, with the mods you have, you don't need an ECU or tuning.
If it's what you want... Cool...
Just remember, where your car is at now...
The gains are not going to be earth shattering.
Best if you dyno it 1st & see what it's like...
It may already be pretty good.
If there are gains to be had, don't expect more than 5kw at the wheels.
Regardless of system used.

Regarding Hondata...
Hondata S100 - You're looking at $835 - fitted & dyno tuned
(Normally Aspirated)
Other systems are more... (S200 & S300)

Power FC - you'll need an OBD 1 to OBD2a crossover loom to use it.
These can be picked up for good price 2nd hand
VAFC may be all you need... So don't write that one off yet either.

Shop around... Go where you are comfortable with...
Set yourself a budget & try to stick to it...

if i get my car dyno'd, they will provide an at the wheel reading, which they can then calculate to the flywheel?

the reason im enquiring into it as i feel after the intake and exhaust/headers was done, i dont feel the gains have been that great, i.e as good as they should of been.

What exactly has been done the car, so far?
When you say intake and exhaust, what were the details of these, and any other mods?

Power reading at wheels is given.
Calculated flywheel power is meaningless.

xforce 4-1 headers. high flow cat. 2.25" catback. genie canon muffler.
intake is a cosmo racing cai setup with knN pod.

the reason i would want a flywheel figure is that is the only thing i could compare it to, as stock the gsi is rated at 107kw at the flywheel, but i dont know what it was stock at the wheel.
