Its a common problem on a 92-26 Prelude that the speedo needle will get stuck on 40km/h. It will happen when you turn on the ignition switch and start the car. When you go over 40km/h the needle will continue to operate as normal but still will stay at 40km/h instead of 0. It seems to be caused from dry solder joints on the cluster PCB's
A dealer will just replace the PCB in the cluster that will cost you a fair bit.
Aim: To stop the Speedo from sitting on 40km/h when ever you drive
Required:
- soldering iron
- solder
- philips head screw driver
Step: 1
The cluster needs to be removed from the vehcle so the PCB can be accessed. Start by removing the top cover along the dash. remove all the screws and the cover will just drop down after you remove the tweeter cover.

STEP: 2
remove both tweeter covers and unplug the tweeters. Pay attention to the routing of the wires going to the tweeter.

STEP: 5
the LHS cover of the dash needs to be removed. Start by removing the screw from the most left side ( red arrow )

remove the screw above the fuel gauge
unplug the clock switch conector

STEP: 6
Remove the Cluster
undo the two scews on the left of the cluster. ( red arrows in below pic )

undo the two screws on the right of the cluster. ( red arrows in below pic )

pull the cluster back and unplug the connectors that plug into the cluster. remove the cluster from the vehicle.
STEP: 7
place the cluster on a bench/desk and remove the screws shown bellow in the blue circles.

then place 1 screw back in between both PCB to hold them in place.

STEP: 8
you would want to have good soldering skills for this part.
reflow the solder on all suspicious looking joints. in the below pic I have circled some that look sus. If your not sure, reflow the solder on all joints. The PCB are not that big so they wont take to long to fix, just dont overheat anything.

STEP: 9
put everything back together in revers from disasembly. Take care when reinstalling the cover removed in step 1. It has slots that need to line up with the platic notches of the dash facia. Also dont forget to plug the clock switches back in.
take the car for a drive and make sure everything is ok.
