Been reading about the function of the oil catch can and wondering if it's actually worth installing it in a Euro.
If so, any recommendation on the type of can (brand or no brand). To me
they are all the same and i assume it works the same too.
Has anyone installed one in their Euro?

i don't think the actual can is the problem. Its the fact that only half the people that buy them know how to connect them up to the motor.
As long as you know where to hook it up to its fine.

What is the whole point of a oil catch can anyway??

it collects the oil that would otherwise be sucked into the engine and burnt with your fuel, some of the oil sit´s in your intake track and sits on sensors so it´s never a bad thing to get a catch can but when and on what cars you should use them is a matter of opinion?

And it is fit between the PCV valve and the intake manifold line. Many people fit it to their rocker cover vent, which is silly as that vent is an intake.

So aaron would u say in the photo that it is incorrect connection for the catch tank as it's connected to the rocker cover. Or am I seeing it wrong.

I reckon if you are experiencing oil consumption, then it's better to install a catch can. If you aren't, then there isn't a need to.
I really doubt it that a brand name oil catch tank will do a better job than what I made using a Watties baked beans can and some hose...
Well it probably will and look a lot nicer too but between catch tanks that you buy; sweet f all difference if any...
Competition cars must be fitted with an oil catch tank but a road car that might see the track from a distant hill once a year it's really not going to do anything for you...
For example V8 Supercars can fill an oil catch tank in a race; my 1999 CH9 Accord Wagon SiR had a catch tank for 9 months; barely saw a drop of oil

No it doesn't. It doesn't cool the oil.

Sorry, I missed your post. Anyway, yeah, that pic has the catch can installed wrongly. Here's the flow direction of air, and you can see that the catch can is doing nothing.

Instead, the catch can is meant to be connected between the PCV valve and the intake manifold inlet, which is under the "i-vtec" cover!
Here's a pic of the PCV valve. Follow that pipe to under the intake manifold cover and you'll find the other end.

Finally got around to installing my catch can, purchased a 100ml inline filter/water trap normally used on air guns... looks sexy and works like a charm!
once again, ill have pics up as soon as everything is installed

The catch can is necessary on our car even it is not modified because the PCV on our has lots of blow by gases even more when you hit vtec. By chance if you would take the intake manifold off or when you are installing the Hondata headshield gasket you will know what I am talking about, it is fill with blow by gases and the yellowish stuff contaminate the manifold and you don't wnat that stuff going to get burn in the engine so the can collects some of that nasty stuff.

yeah, i seen the amount of oil and crap all the tsx drivers have caught, ill keep everyone updated on how it goes... i did it mainly for the bling, but im still keen on keeping my engine clean...
if it makes you happy, it was your pics of your catch can that inspired me :p lol

Yup that catch can is routed wrongly the other line should go on top of the intake manifold not to the valve cover breather line.

i got mine from "air trade sales" they deal solely in air compressor tools... just go to hardware store and ask for either an inline filter or an air gun water trap... they normally know what you mean... mine cost $50... but you can get cheaper ones for around $10-20...
i did canberra to sydney... with a little bit of of hard driving in the city... caught about 5-8mls of oil! i was so happy :D lol its like a game
