A good Honda dealer would be cheaper than Ultratune. In Sydney, I pay $240. So you should be able to get it cheaper in Melb.

You got cheated for your 20,000km service. I go to the most "expensive" dealer here in Sydney, pay $240 and I get an oil change, filter change, tyre rotation and balance, plus all the usual checks and fluid top up and also chocolates in my centre compartment.

Yeah for Honda jazz at 40k, they'll replace with new spark plugs... I'm just waiting for my Jazz for major service 40000km and will cost you around $500+ or unless you know how to DIY = Cheap CHeap Cheap... :D But I'd prefer get them to do it for me... Where about do you live?

I used to service myself (like my pre-owned Civic EG, Starlet, Mazda 121, AE86)
however i love my Jazz as that isn't a cheap car, so i want to keep the full service history, that's why i looking for a cheap workshop to service the jazz for me. BTW i live in Clayton.

40,000km should have a valve clearance check as well, that's why it's about $500. Spark plugs only cost $80 for iridiums.

yups.
and with the 1.3 jazzes, they use 8 spark plugs, also take off the intake manifold, to adjust the tappets.
and theyreplaced the intake manifold gasket, and orings.

Yeah... Eventually I will take it to Honda Dealer... But maybe not for changing oil... I'd prefer DIY...
$500 is my 1 week wage & also nearly equal to 1 year rego
for me there is just couple of hours work for the workshop
they're all charge too much.
is there anyone like me with low income? what will u do: u will pay $500
or just pay $100 change the oil?

What about pay $500 for major service then $40 for oil and DIY... that saves you $60 hehehe

When you call to book your car in for the service, you tell them that you are bringing your own oil. My Euro has been serviced at the dealer all this while, with my own oil (Formula R).
In some place u provide oil, but the workshop won't mark down the price! WTF!

You tell them you are bringing your own oil during booking and ask them what the price is. It's stupid to go in for a standard service not knowing how much it will cost beforehand.

the fact is that if you buy a car running costs need to be taken into consideration, and going to a cheaper workshop might be dodgy...theres a honda place in boxhill called wardmotors and they specialise in honda and subaru cars and do the services cheaper than honda as the owner, try them.
wardmotors <- where about in Box Hill r they?

wardmotors is on the corner of whitehorse road and elgar road, its opposite the mobil station on whitehorse road, so the place itself is near box hill tafe...youll see a cafe and the place itself there is a sidelane that you drive down and you can see all the cars there....shouldnt be hard to miss

hey man can u post your actual total invoice cost and what they do.
my guess is for $390 they aint doin tappets, either that or they're try to 'upsell' shit when u bring the car in
They haven't give me any invoice, i just got the price thought the phone,
i have told that's 40,000kms (Major) & they have confirm that is a comprehensive service,
for me they will have a service list what have to me done in the 40,000, i guess every dealer should be using the same list, that's way i haven't ask what will they done for my jazz
