Gday guys im wondering if anyone here with a crx in particular has gone for an altogether bigger braking system. On my last crx i had dba slotted's and lucas pads and it pulled up well but im looking at going something even stronger. Ive seen a few threads about 10 and 11 inch kits. Im just wondering if anyone has done the upgrade and whether its worth all the money and time looking for parts and things..
Open to everyone's input on what they've done to modify their suspension...

One of the guys in the CRX Club here in WA had the 11inch WILLWOOD Kit on his CRX Back in South Africa. Says its very good but a bit much unless you do track work.

I know of a number of people who have done brake upgrades and personally I think they are worth the hassle.

care to elaborate more on whats reqired fr a 11" brake setup, i know a lot of people run 11" rotor with rebuilt calipers, but what calipers? like for eg. will it run on dc2 vtir calipers/itr calipers/different calipers?

ive done full dc2 onmy eg and i highly recommend it but now i want someting bigger up front too, but stay 4x100.

sorry for hijack!

Thanks guys, im wondering what people have put on their cars to upgrade. It sounds like its pretty hard to do. I spoke to a 'brake specialist' and he didnt even want to talk about it really - didnt sound confident in being able to do it at all. Id love teg type r brakes or something - the brakes in them are great so with 100kg less to pull up theyd be awesome and not too overpowering. A set of 11 or 12 inch with 6pots for example, i think would be way too much. But is there a way of getting ITR brakes on an ed9??

isnt it just a simple case of hub swapping? plus a bigger proportioning valve?

what studd pattern fo you want?
how much money do you want to spend?

have thought about getting brakes from lude vtir (bb6) and redrilling to 4x100 (or sticking with 4x113.4 if thats what you prefer)

it'll cost you less than an itr setup which everyone seems to blow their load over.... and it's the same thing. the vtir discs are 282mm which off the top of my head is the same as the itr.

while i haven't done the research to confirm it i believe HRV brakes are very similar if not idendtical to itr/ctr

Honda HRV (mini SUV) front hubs (5 stud) press straight in to the honda civic knuckles and make the disks and calipers from the HRV (same part numbers as CTR/ITR) a bolt on proposition.

well u can either put in some 5 stud conversion
ie from the ITR or CTR
or
u can get a pair of Prelude rotors Gen4 4x114.3 thread holes and redrill em to 4x100
and put prelude calipers with EG6/DC2 hubs which should be the same as your EG CRX hubs
Gen4 prelude disc are 282mm which is same as the DC2 ITR disc size which is 282mm
also the Prelude calipers are the same as the DC2R ITR calipers and also the crv and the odssey ( not the current shape but the older shape+crv as well)
pm me if u want some more info on this

When you do upgrade your fronts to one of the above (ITR, LUDE, CRV), do you need to change the rears aswell to balance out the braking ?

Gogo super custom 5 lug prelude setup!!!11111one ;)

Man braking from 190km/hr gives new meaning to life with that setup.

Depends on what your existing rear setup is (at least IMO).

well it's very advisable even with just the standard set up..
you'll have a very balanced braking power back in the days when i first changed my drums over (on my first breeze) i noticed a hell alot of difference and i didnt lock the brakes as much in the wet

Just say you have stock disc brakes (EG, EK and DC all the same yes?) and you're planning to upgrade the fronts to a ITR/LUDE front brake setup, would u have to upgrade the rears to the ITR rear brakes size to balance out the braking?

Sorry to hijack your thread..

^ i wouldnt really think so, the fronts do most of the hard work. while it certainly wouldn't hurt it wouldnt be REQUIRED in most cases

IMO i dont think it matters though some people say it ruins the brake balance
