yes they ship to Australia, infact i didnt buy from them i bought it from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ScanGauge-II-3-in-1-car-truck-includes-international_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43989QQih Z014QQitemZ330088498368QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD2V

hi all
Just took the car for a spin using scangauge

8.8l/100 total distance 8.3kms
Average speed 28kms/h fastest 77km/h

However odometer showing 80km/h

When I am idling it only uses 1.3l/100kms of fuel!

does this sound correct 1.3l/100 kms of fuel when idling ?

it says it works with all OBDII ecu's.

Did you get a harness to plug into the ECU as well??

Also, does it actually read your intake temp, coolant temp and throttle position and everything else that it says??

so where do u plug it to?

clayton4115
22-02-2007, 01:43 PM
yes it reads everything, plz checkout that website i shown u above, there is also a manual on this, just google it,

your car show have a OB11 connector under the dash, mine is on the left hand side, just under the dash.

yeah i just read it. it plugs into the diagnostic port.

How much did it end up costing in total???

It's an OBDII scan tool. It plugs into the OBDII port. You don't plug it into your ECU. It reads intake temp, coolant temp, throttle position, timing advance and fuel trim. Also reads manifold vacuum pressure I think.

I think i'm gonna get one too.

Just one more question that i haven't been able to find out yet.

Can you change all the measurements into what we're used to (km/h and degrees C) ???

ANSWER: yes you can. Just found pictures were people have changed it to read in Kilometers and read in Degrees C :D:D

it amazes me how it only uses 1.3l/100km fuel when idle. i thought sitting at a standstill was very fuel inefficient!

JasonGilholme
22-02-2007, 02:40 PM
not really, you gotta remember that the engien is relying on the fuel to spin it. where as once you're moving, the momentum of the car helps out more.

Thats why the cars fuel injectors don't fire when you're rolling along with 0% Throttle ;) Its letting the momentum spin the engine.

22-02-2007, 02:45 PM
yea well that blows my thought of fuel efficiency out of the water then, so i supposed sitting in traffic during peak hour is not that bad after all !

JasonGilholme
22-02-2007, 02:47 PM
only bad for your cooling system lol

Question: Is this beast plugged into your 05 civc??

it amazes me how it only uses 1.3l/100km fuel when idle. i thought sitting at a standstill was very fuel inefficient!

It's just the way it's calculated. If you are at standstill it is not possible to calculate fuel consumption in that way because the distance travelled is 0km.

clayton4115
22-02-2007, 03:09 PM
well i did 8.8l/100km it will be interesting to see what kind of fuel consumption i will get on my trip back home this afternoon, in peak hour, the total distance is 21.3 kms. Will let you know.

clayton4115
22-02-2007, 03:10 PM
yes its in my 2005 civic.

22-02-2007, 06:00 PM
well here are some pics of it, i just got back, in peak hr traffic and i got 7.7l/100kms!

i think thats really good given the conditions,

i must add there was about 7 kms of freeway driving as well.

cool man, any pics of it lit up??

How do you find the refresh rate?

clayton4115
22-02-2007, 06:12 PM
yea refresh rate is quite slow, 2 secs, but im happy with this little box, it tells u so much at a push of a button! it makes driving so fun now! by the way average speed was 34km/h max speed 99km/h according to SG.

JasonGilholme
22-02-2007, 06:18 PM
I've read that you can change the refresh rate to 0.5 seconds. (ish)

Should be alot better if thats the case.

I just hope it works on my car.

clayton4115
22-02-2007, 06:19 PM
yea well if u have an OB2 connector under the dash it should work and if yours is post 1999.

JasonGilholme
22-02-2007, 06:22 PM
Yeah my car is OBD2 but i'm not sure what classification it is. Aparently theres different ones. People in the states with the same car and same OBD haven't had any problems tho. Hopefully they don't have a different classification.
