Yes it's normal. It goes higher if your A/C compressor is running.

My 6MT has a mind of its own lol

Usually its at 650 but sometimes I see it at 950 for no apparent reason.
(this happens when A/C and Auto-climate is OFF).

Maybe when the cooling fans are active the computer raises the RPM a bit.

Does it happen after your coolant temperature is above 80 ºC?

Yes when the engine is completely warmed up.
Come to think of it, it happens when the car comes to a stop after releasing the clutch. It takes a few seconds to pop down to 650rpm.
Not completely sure if it goes up to 950rpm from 650rpm but I think it does occasionally if I recall correctly.

Ahh, yes, I get that too. It's probably the engine revving it up to burn any remaining fuel in the chamber.

How do you know the temperature of your coolant?

diagnostic start up by holding climate and dual when starting ignition.

use windscreen demister to change each setting.

Can't recall!

What is your idling anyways andy?
