got a spare key? try that key
most probably, your key has worn out to a extent, where the tumbles in the barrel aren't recognising the pattern.

IF you don't have a spare key, just try getting a new key cut using your old key as a template.

If that fails, contact your honda dealer, and ask them for your key code, you will need your VIN number for that, take that key code to a specialist key cutter, and they can cut the key via a code.

If, you can't get your key code, order a key through your dealer, via your VIN number, this will take 3 weeks from japan though.

Another way is also, take off the ignition barrel, bring it to a locksmith, and ask them to make a key for your barrel.

Or, go to a wrecker ask them for a key and barrel.

Though saying all that, your barrel could be jammed, which i kinda doubt, most of the time it's the key that is worn out.

yeh i've tried my spare key...still doesn't work. now how do i get the ignition barrell off? i see two bolts at the top of the barrel that are connecting that to the steering column but i dont know how to undo them, there arn't any indents on the bolts

that's a security thing.
the way you get them off.
*hack saw a slot, and then use screw driver.
*using a point punch + hammer and hit it on a angle, anti clockwise.

If you take it off, you will need to go to honda and get a new set of bolts.

another thing could be that the tumbles in the barrel, have moved, so therefore not recognising your key.
but if you barrel is all f*cked, just buy a 2nd hand one, and get it retumbled.

Or you can try the short broomstick handle and hammer trick. Put the short piece of wood against your ignition barrel, give it a tap with the hammer. Then try to start your car. If it doesn't work, give a harder tap. Once your car is started, go and get a new barrel. Don't turn your car off until you have sourced a new barrel.

yeah it's possible to get it retumbled, i'm quite sure of it, i know normal door locks and stuff you can, so i'm quite sure, and i know someone doing it on another car, but that wasn't on a honda.
lol.

It should be possible to get it retumbled. But you'll always have that chance of it happening again. Go for a new ignition barrel.

best to take it to locksmith and get it fixed. It shouldnt cost more than $50 cause i had to get an old key to match a new ignition barrel and that only costed $30

well if you mean new as in another from a wrecker, then it that ian't gonna be a garuantee either.
saying that, might as well go to honda and get a brand new one.

Red, Black and Yellow; Blue and Green

Are we sure that we're not helping someone learn how to steal a car? I'm always wary of people wanting to know about 'ignition' related topics

Seriously it's like a 30 second job hot wiring and removing the steering lock

^^ LOL, then why are you posting up the wire colours? We were just telling him to go buy a new barrel.

Yeah but who knows that they are the right wires...

This is coming from someone that tells people on a regular basis that their flux capacitor is broken

best thing to try is, stick the key into the shift lock mechanism ( key hole near the gear lever if it is an auto,)

and just select gears 1 to p back and forth a few times

then try to turn the key :)
