hi guys well i just copped another canary for being to low! my question is how many times can i get warned for the same thing befor they impound my car if that is what they do? also to come with my canary i got a $177 fine for "driving a vehicle that does not comply with standards of registraion" is this normal?

Yes it is. An ex-work collegue got done for tyres too bald then also got fined for uninsured because it was then unregistered etc etc. The cops pulled about 4 fines out their ass.

They may be able revoke registration aswell - as shown in previous example.

Just raise your car. It'll saves you alot of hassals and fines in the future.

you have 28 days to fix it. if not they give u an extra 28 days whereby you are unable to drive the car. if you still havnt fixed it by then youre rego is cancelled/suspended.

my old crx got done for being to low and having wheels to big, when i argued, saying i can have big wheels as long as rolling diamter isnt 15mm bigger or 1 inch wider then stock, and my car is above the 100mm gc, the bugger give me 3 days to fix it and re rego checked, all they wrote was does not comply on the fine. thats was a thursday night (i wasnt cruising,i had soccer training), RTA's close noon saturdays so i didnt have long to get a rego check and gees pple work fridays! but thats one reason i sold it. to many coppers think your a hoon just becos of the type of car u drive.

You didn't need to get anything done to clear it. He's given you a void defect notice. Should've contested.

i've had my car for 3 years, 2.5 of which have been on the road, and drive pass cops all the time, never been pulled over or defected (touch wood), only ever pulled over for boose buses

sorry guys failed to mention this was all at the booz bus. With no one in the car it is legal but when it is fully loaded it is illegal which is what happen to me. For now i have raised the car by 5mm by stacking washers inbetween the body and the shocker where my two bolts come out of the engine bay (if that makes sense). As i will be getting coilovers in the next month or so

i guess my 17" chromies and body kit didnt help, i was never a doof doof, and my exhaust wasnt that loud, it did have a nice chrome machines tip that u couldnt miss. maybe its bad luck who knows, or the fact i used to do about 160km's a day

cops are trained depending on what they do.

Field cops won't know as much as highway patrol.

Cops go for updating seminars regularily to keep up to day with general infomation.

If a field officer needs information regarding road/traffic offences, they call Highway Patrol.

thats nowhere near low,

the cops probably new, they tend to find to make cash and show they are strict.. ie most likely new recruits..

pigs whos been in the force for awhile tend not to car.. uno why.. paper work AFTER HOURS..

BTW did he fine u and give you paper on the spot? or said it will me mailed to you?

if its mailed u got a slight chance you wont get it!

he gave it to me on the spot. When he tried to put the wheel under it hit the floor lol as i had a full load. When it has no load it just makes 100mm

the heights actually look fine for me.. doesn't bother too much.. but full loaded, yeah that's possible..

I've had cops follow me when I've turned off highways into sidestreets etc I guess 'cause the CR-X looks "sporty" and in some suburbs the cops are literally looking for people to pick on. That said, I've actually never been pulled over and my suspension was so low that I raised it on my own free will, just so I could keep my exhaust attached.

Get stiffer springs or tell your friends to walk :P

yeah coilovers on the way in the next month or so. So that should solve all the problems. I just think the rule is crap. just think about when you have no one in the car it is legal, when it is fully loaded it is illegal. Then when you go to vicroads they measure it without a full load! Stupid that is what it is

Car needs to be 100mm fully laden.

100mm from what point on the car? The lowest point?

If you ever use those funky "hand wash" car washes, you should find they run the car through an automated section first that pulls the car along a belt. They couldn't do my car after I lowered it, stating that the lip on the belt (to steer the tyre) was 100mm high - the legal limit.

There are many disadvantages to being lower than that height. Also the actual performance of the car (if it is even a concern to you all) is not at its best the lower you go. It's a complicated subject where complex physics calculations are brought into play. So if you're serious about the performance, get a professional to tune your suspension settings.

Aside from the height being calculated by numerous factors, such as how the declining angle of control arms affects camber - for a basic example - and drag versus downforce, each corner is measured and tuned independently of the actual level it is sitting at. Coilovers can be used to balance the weight of the car properly, as the car isn't even from diagonal to diagonal - unless it's a ferrari or something hehe

So what I'm getting at is, stay with legal heights unless you have had your car professionally tuned and the pro determined the perfect height to fall under the legal limit. Then be weighing up the pros and cons of street versus track and making a commitment or compromise.

Check the NSW Modifications Thread, Dylanamus -- It's stated on there. (I think anyway).

Good Advice though, Dylanamus.

I've had to put my front stocks back on, and have my rear as lowered -- It's VERY weird to control.

Would like to get adjustables and get it tuned from there for better driving.

this may seem stupid but i have noticed now that i have raised the front by 7mm it is easier to steer like it is not as heavy.
