My advice would be to search the forum first, this topic has been discussed to death. If I were you though I'd save for coilovers as you don't want to ruin a good car with crap springs + it will shorten the life of your shocks.

my friend has eibach springs with bilstein shocks
i find it to be quite comfy
coilovers are overrated on an accord... your going to constantly adjust ur ride height or damper...?

i had just the pedders springs with standard shocks - they were good for about 2 years. Now im running koni yellows - They are really nice. Ride is still firm but the arse end doesnt rattle when you push it hard in to a corner like it used too...
P.s. I also have the whiteline RSB and the Cusco Tower bar. They are a must even if you do nothing else...

a brand new set of good shocks and springs will probably be the same price as a cheapy set of 2nd hand coilovers...

+ there's a weight saving with coilovers.
Remember the Accords actually run non-adjustable coilover's which is why the handling is so much better than most stock cars so why go backwards.

go with coilovers if you like fast and performance driving, but if you only drive slowly (e.g. using big rims), i think king spring or any spring enough..

I chose the Tein ss coilovers because I wanted adjustable dampening, but that was a step-up from my first choice of Koni yellows for the adjustable dampening as well.
But to my dismay back in mid January I was told that there would be no Koni yellows for the CL9 available for about 6 weeks. I had already bought my lowering springs, but managed to stretch my budget and bought a set of Tein SS coilovers from a Ozhonda trader at a great price.
The only benefit that I have is height adjustment, but with a 45mm drop alround, I'm sure that I will leave it at the current height.
But having the dampening adjustment is great if you have crap roads like I do!

Do you need to install rear camber kit if you already have Tein SS Coilover?
Merlin086
02-03-2007, 07:33 AM
Just depends on how much you drop, and whether you are prepared to wear out your rear tyres on the inside edge, personally I like maximum mileage out of my tyres at
$1000+ a set.
I needed the camber kit, with a 45mm drop to get the rear camber back to spec.
Just do a search like I did here to get the best info from other members experiences.
Being a supension novice myself a few months ago I have found other members comments invaluable to my choice of upgrade parts. (thanks everyone )

It really does depend on how much you wanna drop your car.
I'm sitting on 19 inch wheels and the rear quater panel is sitting on the rim and the front is equal to the tread line
On the alignment table i was running -6 at the rear and -1 at the front
With the rear ingall camber kit i ajusted to -3.5 camber with zero toe (and i still had more ajustment for positive camber) at the rear which lessens the tyre wear a touch and still giving that cool negative camber look. (if you want it) :)
For the price of an ingall camber for which i think from memory is around $150.00 from JDM it's well worth it even if you just lower the car slightly you will be able to achieve an equal amount of camber at the rear as the left hand side on 05 models and below seem to create an extra 1 neg degree. Also able to dial in more positive camber when lowerd to achieve a less amount of tyre wear.

Get Eibach/Bilstein setup.(this is what i've got)IMO you'll need a camber kit as there is NO camber adjustment on the rear.I've got approx.35mm drop and without the rear camber kit i had 3 deg negative camber on one wheel.:)

My mistake on the camber kit, i paid $290.00 for it from JDM yard
Still a good price comparing others i have found and the ease of ajustability for toe/camber.

How much did you lower it by? 1-3cm is alright. But more than 4cm, then you'll get blown shocks in about 1 year or less.

From what I was told at pedders it was about a 2inch drop... but they measured it from the wheel hub, so not exactly a 2inch drop lol

If you think it's good now wait till you put some Bilstein or Koni shocks on!I've got Eibachs with Bilsteins and ride/handling is excellent particularly when you hit some winding roads.

It(the Eibach springs) will definitely shorten the life of the shocks. How much is hard to say.someone else here may know more. It's no big deal,in your case when it happens just go buy some Konis or Bilsteins.BTW.have you fitted a thicker RSB?If you haven't go and do it.It's one of the best suspension mods you can do.:p

They won't be new after 12 months. Heck, they won't be working after 12 months. Lowering more than about 1 inch will cause the stock shocks to travel outside of its specified range thus accelerating wear and giving you blown shocks in under one year.
You might as well change them now, and keep your stock shocks in good condition, which is useful if you ever plan to sell your car off stock.

Get the shocks for sure. Either Koni or Blisteins. Tony1234 would be better informed than I am to advise you since he did his research before purchasing them. Ask him.
As for the rear sway bar, it reduces rear bodyroll and hence reduces understeer. For street driving only, you don't need it. But if you like spirited driving through the twisties, then it is a good mod. I have the Whiteline 18mm one.

got eibach's didn't changed shocks a dream to drive handling is insane, not knocking any other springs.....worth the money though.
Not sure what you define as good handling, but when my Euro had Eibach's and standard shocks (pretty much new) and all I could say is that after 12 months the ride was horrible. Car was bouncing all over the place cos of the crappy shocks, and also jumping over the place if the road was uneven. Going over speed humps was just painful. Give you an idea, my MX5 with king lows, koni yellows, 16" rims with 45 profile tyres has a much better ride than what my Euro was. Subsequently, I changed back to stock springs, but even though the handling was a little down, the ride quality went up 200%. Also saved me having to replace my shocks further down the track.
If you plan to go lowered springs with stock shocks, I suggest you do a lot of homework in regards to spring rates. Personally, if you go with lowered springs, get adjustable shocks as well. Or go for coilovers altogether.
PS: Whoever that said shocks and springs combo doesn't have the same features as coilovers is a fool. Koni yellows is height adjustable and also has adjustable damper. Tien SS has the same features. What makes the Tien SS better is that the springs and shocks are well matched (i.e. spring rates in proportion to damper rate). Koni yellows are made to cater for a wide variety of springs, so it might be excellent when matched with particular springs but average with others.

What are some decent coilovers going for $1400 that can beat something like a Koni yellow/eibach combo for around the $1400 mark too. If you say Tien SS, well, then you might be right, but as far as I know, Tien SS go for at least $1800+.
Do you have any experience with spings/shock combo's??
