hey just hoping some one could help me my crx is a jap body si and comes with the longer headlights, i want to fit aftermarket headlights but they all seem to be for the audm size headlights! the car is getting a kit so front bar is not an issue so if i replace the jap bonnet for an aus one will i get away with out to much modification to headlight brackets/housing?

the jap si and the audm si are exactly the same im 99% sure.. The only different headlights is on the JDM SiR which has a completely different bonnet..

I know a gal who has a jap spec si and they have the same lights as the AUSDM si look @ the pic below

now look @ the SIR front

very similar but the dead giveaways on the different headlights are the wrap around indicators and bonnet. The Si has a hump on bonnet the SIR does not.

I hope this helps!

hmmm, not really sure guys... i pick up my crx next week and i have been waiting some time for it so i have been planning to mod it. i'm 100% sure it has jap headlights becuase of i'ts history. the body is a 1990 jap si body with aus 1988 crx vin numbers (don't ask) and a 1990 b16 from another crx. the car is a friend of a friend's and i've seen it and now driven it and it has all the jap interior as well.

p.s. it has very rare jap tail light center peice with "CRX VTEC" on it i will wanna sell them after i get her so ask for some pics if you are interested.

rebirth?..lol

if you wana aftermarket AUSDM headlights, you will also need to change the bonnet and front bumper, but your putting a bodykit on anyway. but otherwise the lights bolt straight in as they have a extra mounting bracket.

if you do go ahead with this, you shouldnt have any troubles selling the parts, as there is always somebody wanting to do a SiR conversion.

but also its not too hard to put a aftermarket bodykit onto a SiR as its only the headlights that are longer and wider, so abit needs to be shaved off. (the SiR above is mine, and i was going to put a kit on awhile back)

the last guy i know that had a rebirthed CRX got it taken away from him by the cops for being stolen property. after 14months of investigation it was found to be an illegal import he had to fight to get it back and then had to spend 7k on it to meet ADR requirements. if the RTA catch you they will just crush your car these days. and you will be left out of pocket.
something to think about when buying a "cheep" car

something else to think about is that your bodykit wont line up because the front end is all wrong(designed for AUDM). its not just a matter of changing the bonnet as the supports etc in the front will be all wrong. i know there are some guys here that have swapped to the SIR/JDM front end and they had to replace a fair bit of stuff. hopefully they can shed some light on it.

hey thanks for all the advice guys, well first the car is not stollen so we don't need to worry bout that. the only thing that gives it away is the headlights and back seats all plates are for audm ef8. if i change headlights all then should be fine, and yes i expect the kit to not line up infact no body kit on the market under $2000 made of fibreglass will probably line up so i'm paying a fibreglasser $500 to fit and spray primer i might give him a bit of a tip to ensure snug fits.
Cheers guys... i'll put picks up soon. P.S. what would be a fair price for the front end? bumper bonnet and headlights? any thing else needed?

my mates car wasn't stolen either it was re birthed using a smashed vehicles vin plate. this is how thieves sell stolen cars thats why the police believed it was stolen.
it was an illegal import that had been brought in as "parts" then vin plates were swapped so that it could be registered.

cool thanks for the concern, i'll prob do one of those vic road checks. the car has been owned and b16a swapped by a close friend of my boss and several guys from work. and he has explained all the history behind the car and is not really trying to sell just thought i'd enjoy it more i guess, plus his wife needs an auto... there loss. what do you guys reckon should i convert to audm to save my arse becuase all the plates are for EF8 audm crx?

i thought ef8's were only only jdm?!?!

if you have a SiR front end.. then when you change your headlights you will also need to change your bonnet, as they are slightly longer than the Si's

converting to a b16a shouldnt be a problem, as the SiR came out with them as standard. also changing your panels to a AUSDM wont matter also, aslong as your vin number/compliance plates are in order you should be ok.. it doesnt really matter what it looks like on the exterior/interior as most cops wont know the difference.

but a pic of the car should be able to clear alota of things up.
